    rear diff oil type

Yeah, it's wierd but I agree that sometimes gently doing up the siezed nut/bolt a bit first (no more than 1/8 to 1/4 turn or you risk shearing/buggering it!) does work. Probably breaks the bond of whatever is stopping it undo. Also agree with carefully applying heat. I recently wanted my...

    rear diff oil type

The transfer box gaitor being knackered probably doesn't help the smell staying out as. Must get some black gaffer tape on it!!! If you can I'd be tempted to take an air impact wrench to the stuck drain plug. It does take a 1/2" square drive after all, and the impact hammer action might help...

    rear diff oil type

...............As above. I emptied the gearbox then put 4L of new oil in and was expecting the oil to run out of the filler hole when I got to 3.6L as the manual says that's the capacity. It took all 4L and was nowhere near coming out of the filler hole (I stuck my finger in to check!). Should...

    rear diff oil type

Great advice as always - Thanks! Might pop to Halfrauds for some LS80W-90 tomorrow as they seem to sell Comma oils. I got some of the servicing done on the Teranno today - Changed the diesel filter. That was pleasantly straight forward, especially compared to the ford transit. Didn't want...

    rear diff oil type

I went to a motor factors today to get service parts and oils. I know it's important to get the right oil for the rear diff. As above, the manual states GLI-5 approved for LSD at SAE 80W/90. The factors could find a listing for all of the other oils using my reg number on their system but not...

    LSD or not?

Nice one, thanks! :thumbs Here's hoping I can get the LSD working again with some proper oil.

    LSD or not?

    LSD or not?

Thanks again for your advice - I will have a look at the bolts in the morning and report back! Ian.

    LSD or not?

Thanks for the advice so far. I wouldn't say that it's overly tail happy in the wet, but we've just had some snow so I'll have a bit of a play on some bends/roundabouts on the way to work! So when an LSD diff gets knackered it can revert to a standard diff? Am I right in thinking that I can...

    LSD or not?

Having only recently bought my 1999 Terrano II S 2.7 diesel, I want to do a full service so that I know that everything is up to date. I assumed that all of these trucks had limited slip differentials in the rear axle, but wanted to make sure so that I get the right oil. I jacked the back up...

    Dashlights 2

I used to have a green light on the right hand side of the rev counter for the front fogs until I moved the bulb to a more important indicator pending the arrival of my new (now apparently wrongly ordered!) LED bulbs. Excerpt from owners manual - Hope this helps? Perhaps you have a blown...

    Dashlights 2

I have a 1999 Mark 2 Terrano and my front fogs (small lights inboard of the round headlights) can be turned on when the side, dipped or main beam are on by twisting the inner switch on the same (left hand) stalk as the headlight switch. This switch has off, front fog then front and rear fog...
