HI does the front fogs have a warning light if so where please cos sick of mr plod stopping me with them on accidently. cheers kev.

Yes, right hand side of the dash, about half way up. Should be green. (2001 T2 at least)

Not on mine either:augie but didnt know it was illegal to have the fronts on anyway.
Wish plod would have a go at the twats that drive about with the back ones on though:doh

I think ours are ''driving lights'' ;) , its not illegal to drive with ''driving lights'' on.

Ours are fog lights - easy test, do they go out when you dip your lights.

Fog lights (front and rear) may only be used when visibility is seriously reduced.

Front fog lamp - Manner of use prohibited.
(a) Used so as to cause undue dazzle or discomfort to other persons using the road.
(b) Used so as to be lit at any time other than in conditions of seriously reduced visibility.
(c) Used so as to be lit when a vehicle is parked.

I'm confused now (I know it's easily done :lol), but the "driving "lights stay on when dipped or on side lights for that matter:augie So are they fog or drive:nenau

My smaller lights come on at the same time as the main lights , i cannot switch them on or off independantly.

I have had the car 3 years and I have never been pulled over or failed an mot because of it.

most terrano i have seen driving are also driving with the small lights on

In retrospect I should have clarified which Mk I suppose.

On the Mk1 the rectangular lights in the lower bumper are definitely fog lights, they are switched independently and can be on with side, dip or main beam.

On the Mk3 the inner lights as part of the same cluster, they are also switched independently and can be on with side, dip or main beam - again this makes them fogs.

If as is being said above on the Mk2 they come on automatically with main beam and go off when you go back to dip then they are driving lights (technically auxillary main beam)

As for dash lights mine has a green indicator light at the right of the cluster to let you know the from fogs are on. On my old Mk1 IIRC the switch illuminated. It is an MOT requirement that there is a tell tale for rear fog lights, I'm not sure about fronts.

Keep meaning to work out how to rewire my Mk3 so I can use em as driving lights.

hmmm, mine is MK2 I guess and the small round lights next to the head lights are switched on the light stalk. If you twist it one notch further then the rear fog comes on and that is shown on the dash.
So, as there's no dash light to show when the fronts are on, does that mean they're "drive" lights then?:augie

thats how i look at it

Makeitfat, I think yours are the same as mine. They are front Fogs that come on with the switch as you described but the Sidelights or headlights need to be switched on. No there is no warning light on the dash which is pretty crap.

there are two twisty bits , the outside and the inside which bits are you twisting and when

I can't get the inside light to go on or off independantly

Yep that's the same, :doh Ah well I'm with Darwin on this one now:sly
Wonder why his aren't switched though?:augie

I have a 1999 Mark 2 Terrano and my front fogs (small lights inboard of the round headlights) can be turned on when the side, dipped or main beam are on by twisting the inner switch on the same (left hand) stalk as the headlight switch. This switch has off, front fog then front and rear fog position.

I have indicator lights on the dash for the front and rear fogs, although there is an intermittent fault where these lights sometimes don't come on even when the external lights do. (bashing the dashboard sometimes helps!)

I run with the front fog on almost all the time after dark because I find the headlights (both dipped and main beam) to be utter crap! I wonder if anyone else thinks that these lights are rubbish, or is it just mine? I'm thinking of fitting a pair of auxilliary headlights (look like spotlights) onto the top of the bumper which will provide extra dipped and main illumination.

Yes the headlamps are about as much use as a chocolate fireguard:lol

Could you describe exavtly which is the front fog lamp warning light ie left side above 4wd light kind of thing. To coin a Zippyism "photo please"

I used to have a green light on the right hand side of the rev counter for the front fogs until I moved the bulb to a more important indicator pending the arrival of my new (now apparently wrongly ordered!) LED bulbs.
