    removing bumper makes job lot easier not done much welding but wot i have done is good so gunna give it a go over next few weeks the key to good weld is clean metal ive learnt but got to admit does look a tight area to work in

    well maverick goes on road 1st august really looking forward to it now engine is sweet as a kitten but havin a poke rnd underneath oooppps poked a away at some rust on rear body to chassis mount and now have a hole good old ebay just brought a mig welder so looks like more work !!!!!!!!!!

    Overheating ?

    from wot your saying and previous experience i would check water pump flush system and make sure no air locks 1st if its still same then i would say head gasket as wen my head gasket went on 1 ov my cars a few years ago i had cold radiator at bottom and hot at top

    well just sat and worked out wot my maverick owes me including all parts and engine ive brought to take bits off to get it to run right and grand total is £818 which is a bloody good bargain as previous owner had new exhaust starter battery and glow plugs fitted aswell:lol

    very straight forward job if your mechanically minded and handy with spanners follow download for timing its easy to do in fact easiest car ive timed up as its all cogs no chains or belts take injectors out make turning engine easier as no compression :thumb2

    not got a clue how to test fuel pump but as ive tried everything else this is the next thing and i have a spare 1 to try thats of a good running engine lets hope it cures it will updated when ive fitted it

    egr valve working perfect even cleaned inlet manifold out plumes ov whitish/blueish smoke is unburnt fuel so checked everything only leaves fuel pump in my eye sight

    well injectors fitted guess wot still same checked fuel lines sensors etc next stage change fuel pump as i have a good 1 to see if that cures it after that im stumped will not be beat i will sort it no matter wot !!!!!!!!!!!!!

    was offered complete engine £175 which i heard running and was sweet as a nut so i took it gunna go easy route 1st and try injectors out ov it in mine tomas hopefully fingers crossed will be problem sorted ps wot a bloody heavy engine !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    going to replace nozzles had injectors to bits so easy job just to change the nozzles as its only the nozzles really that control the spray of diesel into cylinders if there worn they will be spraying uneven amounts causing uneven running so my theory is !!!!!!!!! plus its loads cheaper worth a...

    quick update had injectors out and cleaned put back together injector number 3 causes deisel knock and if u slacken pipe on injector 1 idle perfect which tells me needs new set of injectors o and changed diesel filter it was proper full of crap so was ready will update when ive replaced injectors

    needs to be above 1200 rpm to stop it hunting/surging already tried increasing revs but 1200 bit too high for idle speed is a strange 1 but i will get to the bottom ov it checked all vackuum pipes alls good

    if it was fuel filter surley it wouldnt drive ok its only idle thats the problem

    very simlier but mines just up and down between 600 and 800 rpms have check for little filter on pump took banjo off no filter so all i can assume some1 has removed it my battery new so no that checked alternator not that but strange thing is there is no engine mangement light on dash board even...

    hi all just brought a ford maverick 97 p 2.7 tdi run great apart from surging on tick over between 600 and 800 revs any help greatly appricated tried all sorts driving me crackers :doh
