    spare wheel lift

Unfortunately mine is not that type. It's a ball & arm design so the complete item would need changing.

    spare wheel lift

Had a second go at improving the clearance. This time I've drilled 4 new holes to allow the wheel to sit approx. 20mm higher & 35mm to the nearside. Not a lot but it is an improvement. If this doesn't work I'll have to look into making some spacers from square section tube. Only other thing I...

    seat belt light flashing

To my amazement (& great relief as it's now a potential MOT failure) the download worked! Thanks for the suggestion 'jims-terrano'! This site has saved me yet again. Checked all the plugs under the seats but couldn't see anything amiss, so not sure what caused it to start acting-up but very...

    seat belt light flashing

Have just come across another post re: driver's side door switch which, apparently, is more complicated than the rest. Looks like this may be the more likely culprit. Unfortunately I have to move two cars to get to that side so it will have to wait a bit longer LOL.

    Comfort/Map Lights

I found them so dim they were useless & what's worse I kept switching them on by accident (after operating sun roof) which then flattened the battery! I've been meaning to replace them with something brighter, maybe LCDs? Any ideas?

    seat belt light flashing

No sooner have I dissconected the bonnet sensor (to stop the alarm going off at all hours), than 2 weeks later the seat belt warning light has started to constantly flash. Is the car trying to tell me something I wonder? I've checked for loose wires under the seats & am now contemplating taking...

    auto box on a terrano

Having towed 1.6T+ caravan for past 6 years (total about 11K miles) I have yet to be disappointed by the performance of my 3L auto. Points to note though; 1, Water temp. gauge is of the 'operator pacifying' type', ie. it does not move much over quite a large range but then shoots up if a...

    spare wheel lift

Just bought a newish caravan with the black Al-Co hitch (as opposed to the older red one. It is really tight to couple/uncouple compared to the older one as it needs more stroke. I finally resorted to elongating the holes in the mounting bracket & removing the single stud altogether (worst part...

alarm going off for no reason

Thanks 'Blocky 10' & 'jims-terrano', looks like you have the answere. I still suspect overhead power lines were the cause as it's been alright since coming home. However, I don't want to risk it happening again so have unbolted bonnet sensor & left it lying securely out of harm's way. Peace at...

alarm going off for no reason

2004 3L Terrano. It has recently started sounding the alarm for no apparent reason. Over Easter it was parked next to my caravan (so in my sight all the time) & the alarm would go off up to several times a day (& worse once in the middle of the night!) despite the internal sensors being switched...

    Exhausted

Get personnel cover with Green Flag & it will cover all the cars at your address, also caravann. Mine allows us all to drive any car & covers my wife, daughter & also my 2 sons when they lived at home. If your own car(s) are over 10 years old (mine are!) then have the policy under one of the...

    Anti Freeze 3 Litre

The 3L holds 10l of coolant so I always mix 5o% using 5 year antifreeze.

    Water Leaking into Boot

I've used this stuff many times on small leaks with total success. It's easy to apply & doesn't leave any mess. It actually creeps into the leak path so generous use (it's cheap enough!) will find the leak. I would suggest two or more applications a few mins. apart. Items so far fixed: several...

    3L exhaust

Done 30m so far & all appears OK (sigh of relief!) but I'll be nervous for quite a while. Carrying a can of Gun-Gum in the boot from now on LOL.

steering idler arm - grease nipple?

Fitted a grease nipple to mine when I bought it over 5 years ago. It's the only nipple on the car! Don't talk to me about Renault's penny-pinching, it's evident everywhere. They did their best to ruin a good car.

    3L exhaust

Got stuck in to changing the front exhaust today. Easy 1 hour job I was thinking......After several days of dosing with WD40 I was VERY relieved to get the three studs undone without too much trouble. Sigh of relief, then started fitting new down-pipe. This is where it all goes tits-up...

    3L exhaust

Looks to be 3 studs & nuts. Have been dosing them twice daily with WD40 whilst waiting for the new down-pipe to arrive off ebay. I hope to God they don't shear off as access is diabolical LOL. Yet another brilliant Nissan design. I’m not looking forward to having to drill-out the studs, but at...

    3L exhaust

I replaced the silencer & rear pipe last feb., not bad as they are the original from dec. 2004! I resisted replacing the front pipe as it looked OK & I've been warned about the horrors involved in getting the 3 bolts out. This has now sheared off completely & developed 3 holes as well, so I've...
