Hi,
I have been getting water in the boot. So to check exactly where it is coming from I gave the car a wash and held the water running over the usual suspect areas
The water is actually coming in through the rear (boot) side window roughly halfway along the top edge. You can actually see the water running down the inside of the glass.
My question is how to fix it? Does the outside top window trim unclip from the outside?
I am thinking of removing both the inside and outside trim then sealing the top edge with something.

Thanks in advance.

Yes the trim un-clips but most likely the plastic clips will break, but guess you could stick them back with mastic, be careful not to bend the trim it does so very easily and does not straighten very well, Rick

years ago i used to use thing called seak n seal not sure if you can still buy it but was a liquid in like a 3in1 can you poured it over trouble area and it would find a leak and seal it mainly used it on old rubber seals on windscreens back then worked well just a thought:nenau

I've got duct tape over the roof rack holes too, I've run out of black though and onto the grey so lets hope nothing else needs it, grey doesn't look as professional :D

Hi,

Sorry for the late reply. Life just got unexpectedly complicated.

Many thanks for the info and suggestions.

I think I will carefully give the outside trim removal a go and see what happens with the clips, hopefully I will not break them all.
Do you think Tiger Seal will be okay to seal with along the windows top edge? I just brought 2 tubes and will have some left over I can use.

Many thanks

That doesn't sound good mate, whatever it is I hope it straightens itself out :thumbs

Be very careful with those clips, I removed mine on the Maverick when I was taking the windows out to do a DIY Commercial conversion which went horribly wrong :doh

There will be some pictures somewhere on the forum from when I did the conversion which will give you an idea of the job involved and more importantly the location of the clips which should help you choose your grip carefully enough so you don't break the clips.

It's what I use for similar things and works well. make sure you use gloves it's a shitter to get off your skin :lol

I've used this stuff many times on small leaks with total success. It's easy to apply & doesn't leave any mess. It actually creeps into the leak path so generous use (it's cheap enough!) will find the leak. I would suggest two or more applications a few mins. apart.

Items so far fixed: several roof ariel rubbers, several window seals, cracks in glass fibre & plastic type panels (caravan) etc., I could go on but you get the idea.

A tin should be supplied with every terrano LOL.
