    Fixed Hubs - The Latest

It can be done but the amount of testing needed to get the necessary data to make it work properly puts it out of the amateur league, of course for offroad purposes only it wouldn't be too bad, but for onroad, do you really want something that can apply the brakes to one wheel only wen you're...

    Fixed Hubs - The Latest

Done some reading about and yes its traction control, only Nissan call it EPS stability control. Theres also their "All Mode 4x4i" system with its 3 modes, 2wd, Auto and lock. 2wd is just what it sounds like, auto lets the electronics select and lock just locks it into 4wd, they use a viscous...

    Fixed Hubs - The Latest

Thats traction control - as far as I know it was never an option on the Terrano's. Traction control is good but its no substitute for locking diffs. Landrover deleted first the lever ten the locking mech from the centre diff of the Discovery 2 - there is now thriving market in parts to retro...

    jacking points and jack

2 tonne jack willbe fine but you may struggle for height unless its a full size one. Anywhere under the chassis it'self (not the body or sills) is suitable for jacking. At the front the centre of the rear part (flat bit) of the bash plate is ideal. At the back the centre of the rear diff. To...

heating veg oil idea .... advise please

1 - don't even worry about it ATF will mix with the veg oil and just burn off, will be really weak concentration so nothing to fret about. 2 - don't change your stat you'll upset performance and economy - chip pans etc are at 140-180 degrees you won't reach half the flash point for veg oil in...

I need to talk to those that know

With that kinda budget there's not much else to choose - a G-Wagon is about the only other vehicle I'd suggest but they are so much more to buy in the first instance buy what a vehicle. Don't even think about Landies, people do go overland with them but the prep work is imense and you'd end up...

    Now don't laugh - a Proton.

Yep all standard engine straight out of a Colt Cyborg RS - only thing I've done is add a K&N filter, but only really cos I got it cheap, wouldn't have paid full price, just use a ordinary paper one. Naughty me didn't even drop the sump and check the shells before putting it in - it really howls...

    Now don't laugh - a Proton.

The 4G92 is a 1600cc Mitsubishi engine used in Colts, Lancers etc all are 16valve but there are 2 dual over head cam (DOHC) versions the ordinary one which is as rare as hens teeth in the UK, but similar to the 4G93 1800cc DOHC used in the Colt and Proton Satria GTi's as well as in turbo form in...

    Replacing shock absorbers

Crows feet can't be used accurately with a torque wrench as they extend the lever so the setting is miles out. There is such a thing as a torque spanner, with replaceable ends that slide into the end of the handle - these are carefully designed so that the centrepoint of the spanner is always...

    Halfords tents and tampax??

Best comment I've seen so far "Well, if Halfords ever do start selling Tampax, I definitely wouldn't trust them with installation. " But then if only C&A were still on the go, their knickers might help give a clue.

    Caliper check up time!

All these stuck calipers and sliders - what are people using to grease the pins? Not copper slip I hope - should be red rubber grease, keeps the water out much more sucessfully.
