Caliper check up time!

While doing my top arms I noticed my pads were low so got some new ones to fit.
Found out only two pistons were doing any work
That's half the power there should be up front:augie
So given that a lot of peoples sliders dont work either I bet there may be quite a few of us out there with below parr brakes
Best check your bits boys just incase you need to pull out, er up fast:naughty

Renewed the front pads on mine a couple of weeks ago, had to gently ease the sliders with a bit of heat, sorted. Then i discovered i had a weeping cylinder on the drivers side rear, so off to the local motor factors, £77.30 later rear brakes sorted too...... Now i dont need to send the brakes a postcard to stop.

Timely warning,Pete. Had to get a recon caliper for mine as the one I got from the scrappy was duff too. Meant I went through a set of pads in less than six weeks and used a LOT more diesel as the bugger was sticking.:doh

Luckily I've a friend up the scrappy, so he checked out 3 before the one I eventually got. Took it apart at home and all fine n dandy
Got another one coming from cncfbxyz :augie in the post too

One of my fronts was seized solid, and the rear shoes completely disintegrated, knackering the seals on the cylinders, so laid out £134 at the motor factors in Abergavenny for a set of shoes and replacement cylinders, oh and a new rad cap to replace the one I gave Colin.

That was before i busted my arm of course, so just coughed another £60 to have the buggers fitted and the fluid changed :doh

All these stuck calipers and sliders - what are people using to grease the pins? Not copper slip I hope - should be red rubber grease, keeps the water out much more sucessfully.

Girling do 2 types for rubber seals and one for metal parts.
