Things are tight for all of us but what are you doing to beat the crunch.

I use this site a lot and it's helped me save some pennies.

I've tried with the home grown vedgie's last year and had some success. Today I've decided to quadruple the vedge patch ready for this years crop.

Still got some way to go and me backs killing me.

We have cut down on the shoping switched to Tesco and now collect the points.

We switched to an online account with the gas and electric and can now monitor use monthly. It's helped a great deal and were now paying less than last year.

Lets share some tips and help each other out.

Muzz - the website you mentioned - Martin Lewis is quite a guy, sign up for the weekly e-mail (i'm sure you already have), there are always freebies going.

I haven't personally seen too much happening up here with the credit crunch, apart from Woolies but that was bad management.

It was suggested that Scotland may not get hit too bad or will it just be delayed by a couple of months.

That said I'm a tight arsed Scot :)thumb2:sly:D) and frugality is in the genes:lol

Cheers

Graham

hi willow, im with virgin media, and when i phoned them i followed instructions to terminate my contract and when you speak to someone i explained that i had been with them for years and new customers get free periods ie 3months free, i/we old customers get nothing, she said hang on,( music ) for 2minutes then she said we can lower your contract charge from £58.00 to £38.00 per months, with no loss of service. so it does pay to ask, old chinese proverb says "dont ask dont get" very true, hope this might help you.:thumb2

with out wishing too sound too nosey, what does £38/58 get you then?

cos I get free bt line broad band thru having my mobiles with orange,
though could also get free bb with may talktalk tarriff which includes
the land line and unlimited uk all day calls upto 70 minutes and could
have free bb with tt! typically £20 a month +/- charged non geographical
numbers.

paying sky about £25 a month for sky+ on family package, no movies
or sports. did have multiroom which switched service off and still works
as free sat/view in bedroom as hardly used anyway.

the orange mobiles btw are long term numbers 28 day contracts minimum
doplhin/racoon or whatever they call it this week, about £30 for the pair
including 300min+150 texts each there abouts.

Well I have got it down to £30.85 a month so far :rolleyes:broadband with tiscali still at £14.85 for medium use and with bt more talk unlimited phone calls all day and reduced charge to mobiles .including the line rental and vat. Saving about £10.00 by adjusting a bit:thumbs so far. I hardly use my mobile only have it for when I am out and about on my own so pay as you go there.

Following the sky virgin etc bin them and download what you want from the web:sly You can get virtually anything thats on sky and stream it or save it to your pc. then watch it on your telly, easy and free:clap Just make sure you've got an unlimited bb package. Mine's with orange so I get landline and free evening and w/end calls and my mobile and bb for £19 something:cool:

We have tried lidl as its next to our Tesco but don't find them as good as they used to be years ago. And not much in price difference.

The clubcard points at Tesco are good if you use them for holidays as every £1 transfers to £4.

For example I only need to get £50 in clubcard points to get my £200 eurotunnel for my 2010 holiday if that makes sence. Only been shoping there a couple of months and the point add up fast.

I did that every couple of months for about two years every time I rang to cancel they gave me a better deal. I only changed when I finally got a better deal from BT

Have used the same tactics with other companies and it work to a greater or lesser extent.

Does that include line rental vat and unlimited day time and evening calls and reduced rate to mobiles:p:lol:thumbs

Includes vat and line rental and evening and weekend calls but dont know about reduced to mobiles:nenau
But checkout Martins Money Tips, cause there are different ways to sign up to stuff too. EG pay via a cash back site and money off there too.:clap
