Anyone know what these wires are for? I don't think I disconnected them when I disconnected the battery. There doesn't appear to be anything that you can connect them to either.

I'll have a look at mine when I've got 5, I don't think mine has those

That looks like the 2 extra wires that come off the positive battery clamp to me.

could it be that you should have a blade fuse in those two connectors, I cannot say for sure as yours is Bosch pump and mine is Zexel so the harness are different but I seem to remember seeing a big fuse on other T2's at that point, Rick

I don't remember ever seeing any fuses in those connectors... would have only disconnected a month ago.. What size of fuse.. I'll take a closer pic

stick a bit of wire between the two, Rick

both white with red trace, join em together, with a bit of stiff wire, something like 1.5mm diam, Rick

OK now with a bit of wire stick them on the + battery terminal, Rick

Rick, your a genius!!! We have power and starts!!!

Please explain. I particularly don't get what changed!! But that's obviously down to me.. must have change something...

So, join those and get a connection back to the positive for continued operation?

K

OK you have a later model than any I have here, but when you removed the battery you must also have removed a terminal unit probably with built in fuses that those two wires connected to, they would not be connected direct unless there is a fuse in each wire not too far from the battery, whatever you are on the road, Rick

Hint and Tip.
Before starting any job like that, take photographs at each stage of disassembly, take a few clear sandwich bags, mark on them say 1-.... 5 ... place any small assemblies, screws washers etc in the bag as you go.

You must do this for the rear brake shoes so you know how it all fits together.
I still do this, below is the Bosch dishwasher I stripped last month.
Excuse picture upside down again :doh.
Good job I did this because when I pulled a wire off a micro switch, there were two terminals... looking at the picture it was clear it was the top one, without the picture, I would have had to meter it out, another way, is look for scratches on the terminals lol.
The dishwasher overflow switch was full of gunk, so were all the feed pipes etc, so water didn't get into the dishwasher quick enough, triggered the overflow resulting in stop start of the water flow, with all sorts of clunks etc.
Cleaned, reassembled all working now. :thumb2
Money saved... £ lots, call out parts (non were needed as I cleaned what I had), labour, I guess £80-£120 So rewarding when you repair a job yourself, but there are jobs that are better done my people with more experience. I wouldn't trust my welding on a car say, but if ... let's say Rick did it, then I'd know it was actually stronger than the original :thumb2

I do the sandwich bag thing for screw etc, would be lost. I honestly don't believe those where connected to anything. Anyone got a pic of what the terminal would potential look like? wrecking my brain trying to remember and don't have any terminals in sandwich bags!

On the back of the hanging bracket for the power steering fluid reservoir there are some connectors, I can see one in photo but there is another one underneath it. I unplugged mine just now and although not an exact match look very similar :nenau:thumb2

yep, see that but the ones I jointed are have red/white and those ones are blue/white or two wires... Must be within reaching distance of that cable, but can't see anything - so may be that I have removed some - but can't remember or find it! and I am usually go at putting stuff away in an organised way.

Where do they come from, have you traced them back?, if you can take a pic of where they originate from I will find them on mine and see where they go!

But if I find a talking rabbit and a grinning cat I'm getting outta there sharpish :D:lol

Photo tip is spot on

That's a good tip its something I always tend to do with electrics when I am fixing things that are not broken yet. I also photographed my Kitchen electrics before I put the tiles on the wall so I do not drill into the supply a few years later when hanging up a magnetic knife rack or similar!

Also sometimes I can take a simple item to bits and then when I go back to it a few hours later can't remember which way round some stuff was.

It happened the other day when I removed the pollen filter to sort out the Beamers electrical supply for the DTRL's. When I came to putting it back I could not for the life of me figure which way round the filter was in the housing ! Luckily the new one had an arrow on it with the words top !
