I find one of the skills at towing lareg heavy trailers is to not worry about going at any given speed, dont try to go to fast and on steep inclines find where the engine feels comfortable. Dont keep reving until you need to change up, then the engine dies and you have to change down again and the rev to high, change up etc etc.

just find where it sounds and feels comfortable nad if it is a little slower than you expected, just accept it and plod along :thumbs

I know I've disagreed with you from time to time about towing - but I agree with every word of that!!! :thumb2:thumb2

Cheers

Anyone know the kerbweight of a 2001 LWB T2 2.7TDI?

Also what is the towball max on the T2 and what are your experiences of towing a caravan with it (mine is 1450 fully laden)?

You shouldn't have any problems at all with that and when your on that boggy cl you'll not have to wait for Farmer Giles and his tractor ;)

Ours clocks in between 1378kg "empty" & 1589kg "full" (although I suspect we dont go to fully laden very often) and whilst it would be silly to say you don't notice its there its certainly a decent match under a variety of towing conditions.

I find myself agreeing with plank, just tow so it feels comfy if that's 60 so be it if its 50 there you go, have fun!
