Itching to have a little go in my Maverick on the old muddy stuff, but I dont want to go in blind and end up wrecking it.

Most of the ones I have seen on here and on youtube have had quite a bit added to them, but mine looks std.

I have some Kumho AT tyres on already which should be ok from readin prev posts on here. I have no bullbar or winch or prev 4x4 experience.

As I have always driven low wide sports cars (still do) I'm very wet behind the ears in regards to getting mud on me tyres.

Any advice.

Im based in Bristol if anybody round here does some not to difficult off roading stuff round here.

I'm sure somebody will be going out sometime, ask zippy or ianjones, they are down your neck of the woods i think 8O
Main think is,don't go out by yourself, unless you know its just a gravel track or something easy like that!!

Cool, thanks for the replies. I didnt want to go by myself as i know with my off road skill im bound to get stuck.

Zippy and myself went on one a few weeks ago. was great fun run by guys that have all the kit and knowledge so no worries.

Zippy if we get ourselves sorted out with some kit there will be 3 of us in the local area.

Don't worry abou lack of goodies on your truck most stuff can be done by a std truck with AT or MT tyres on without too much difficulty. Bull bars for instance actually reduce you ground clearance - you'll find the more serious people don't have them. Winch's on T2's are few and far between.

A few things to check before you go out.

Has your rear diff got the correct LSD oil in it so that the LSD will work.
Do your front (front) free wheeling hubs work properly.
Is your front suspension at the corect height or has it sagged, my first Mav was done 40mm.

After that go out and do some, see what you like be it green laning or pay and play days or perhaps both and then you can equip youreslf suitably.

PS whereabouts are you - people migt be able to point you at a suitable event or venue.

its all in the name

hi your welcome to come with us, we have a nice roman road here, its not a gravel track but you will be amassed what your truck can do,

plus we have loads of kit to get you out, should you get stuck

will pm you some details tonight how to find it etc. its very good there if you stick to the track, if not .

yes you do have to pay to get into wales, i prefer to look at it like being a bit more exclusive. so you have to pay a little extra...

mind you if your car is regestered in wales you only pay 50 percent, but im not supposed to say nothing about that ( keep it to yourself)

Think my suspension is fine as it look higher than most other pics I have seen and was a tad higher than a police terrano I was next to at the lights yesterday

Not checked the LSD and 4x4 stuff yet, want to do that asap as i dont want to go to an off road event and find i only have 2wd LOL. car was used by a lady with horse and went off road frequent (bought the car from the deepest forest of dean LOL). Been searching for the how to on that, havent found yet but i know its here somewhere.

I'm in Bristol, not exactly off road capital of the uk though LOL

Just popped out with a ruler and from the lowest point on my mav (The Sump Cover) I have 6 1/2 inched ground clearance, is that about right?
