Just spoke to Pete, and his cars broken down again over in Ilkley. He was very flustered and upset, but he described the problem as a noice from the engine, possibly crankshaft. I didnt get chance to speak for long as he needed to try call the RAC again, who apparently are being arsy with him over the amount of call outs he has used.

no idea what to do to help him, any ideaS???

does he know anyone that may have an AA membership that covers any vehicle they are in? may be able to do that one, I would but I am too far away :(

yeah i know what you mean. I am in the AA, but i'd have to actually be in the car with my card for them to do anything, and i'm too far away plus at work!

not sure about the engine problem though...

:doh

Just seen this, any update????

Looked on the RAC Website....

QUOTE: In your first year with RAC you are entitled to up to five call-outs without extra charge. (six if you have joint cover and seven if you have family cover). If you have been a member for five or more completed years, your entitlement will increase by an additional two call-outs. If you exceed your entitlement you will have to pay an additional charge of no less than £59.00 per call-out, payable prior to us providing the Roadside assistance or At Home service only.

Aint Pete had 1 or 2 before this.... i.e. 3 left without no issues????

AR8ES!

I dunno mate, I can't get back through to pete!! I thought he had used three with this car, so I dunno what the rac have said to him. Worded case is £59 call out. :(

Was there any change left in the pot from the gearbox repair.

Defo Gear Driven for the 2.7. Which garage?

Pete when you read this pal we really feel for you mate.

Jim

Which Pete is this? and as asked which garage has it gone to - may be abe to put him onto someone else locally etc

How did the garage reach that figure? Chin up Briggie! :thumb2

I know liz, doesn't make sense. They say they have the engine already there, so that's suspicious for a start, I'm not happy at all, but we need to establish what is actually wrong with the engine.

they said the place they got the gearbox from has a engine too , so the price they quoted me includes purchase , courier , removal and fitting :(

at least , on the plus side , i have gained a lot of new friends , and found a amazing group , even if my car is foofed , something like that is priceless isnt it ? :thumb2
