Sorry guys playing catch up here! WTF is going on? Is the car back at the garage that did the gearbox job? Can yu get us a better description of what the noises are and what the garage said was wrong?
As said before NO TIMING CHAIN, gear driven.
Poorold briggie, sounds like he's got a proper lemon
If it is the same garage can Paul give them a bell and see what's what?

agreed matey, i am over that way Saturday for my Mazda MOT. I will ask if we can pop round to this place (just need details off Pete) and i will see for myself. If possible, I am going to have a word with a mechanic we know over there, see if there is anything they can do at all for a second opinion.

i am well pissed off, the engine CANNOT be knackered surely? they dont just GO!

Just spoke to Clive (Clivvy).

He is going to call in at the garage on Saturday and see if he can throw more light on what the problem is. I will give the garage a ring tomorrow and let them know Clive is calling in, the guy who did the gearbox work (Shane) seemed quite knowledgeable so I will try and speak to him.

Don't get to despondent Pete, just hang in there... and I don't mean from a rope :thumbs
