33" actually :lol :augie

I stand corrected! :lol

& how do you know how much time mine spends off road
Fair enough, but my point was my vehicle is used 'of road' daily

The roads don't get gritted & like Kent we get it bad to being by the coast.! I would until it or i couldn't & then select 4WD

Bad as in 1inch???? :lol :lol :lol

& like Briggie YOUR BOTH MISSING THE POINT THAT THIS HOLE THREAD IS ABOUT "TYRES" & 1 reason why myself & others with mud tyres have NO problem getting about as you stated your on ROAD tyres.!
   when did I say I have problems??? My point was you dont need to fit mud tyres etc for 90% of conditions most will meet????

Does anyone on here do the continental winter /summer set routine ????
I use the summer drive the Terrano.... winter, if its too bad to get the car out use the Tractor!!!! :lol :lol :lol :D

To be honest with the way winters have been lately I have considered a set of 15 steels with AT tyres on... sod's law once Ive bought them it wont snow for years and years!!!!! :doh But I aint got stuck yet.... ;)

yes i was considering similar, a 2nd set of rims and putting kl71s on them for winter and using a road bias like the continentals for summer.

cost me more up front but of course it would take twice as long to wear them all out :lol

having said that my wrangler hp's have performed excellently this year so far :nenau

Tell you what folks, I reckon the need for 4wd depends big time on your tyres , whats the thoughts on that?

Im quite sure id need a set of kuhmo kl71s on that track in 2wd ( playing with the rwd under/oversteer :lol:lol) but with a set of wrangler hps like i have id feel a lot happier with 4wd.

Are my thoughts on the right lines ???????

Does anyone on here do the continental winter /summer set routine ????

If so which treads are best ???

All these questions :doh

But then it is a tyre thread

Well hopefully the White terrano of "iandouglas's" will be mine by the end of the month & will run that on BFG M/T2 purely for life span & mild green laning & i'm looking at putting 35" Maxxis Buckshots on for off roading & a set of 235/75r15 General Grabber A/T2s for everything else but won't report back anytime soon :( (bloody cash & monthly pay)

General Grabber A/T2s for everything else

Are they the new style grabbers ?

If they are they got a top write up in the 4x4 mag. Couldnt get any to fit mine but I did learn theres a ship in the middle of the Atlantic laden with them due for distribution this month :thumb2

Yes it would / will be although i haven't even seen a picy or price yet  but if there 1/2 as good as the old 1's i'm sure they'll be great :D :thumbs

I still don't like BFG but the M/T 2 will be better off road than a A/T & there'll do mega mileage (hopefully)

I'll get my dads te20, Brake are crap though. But who needs to stop. :D

Don't normally wade in..... BUT.....

NOT aimed at anybody in particular

BUT

Can we PLEASE get this thread back on track now as this is a useful & handy thread for all

Thank-you

:thumbs

Right, get paid at the end of the month :D

1st thing to do will be to pay & collect the Terrano from IanDouglas :bow :thumbs

Then, ( this is what i would like your thoughts on )

Put 35x12.50r15 Maxxis Buckshot's on my current white rims BUT for off roading only

Put 235/75r15 General Grabber A/T2's on my chromes rather than selling them & use them all the time for on road & Essex green laning

Initial outlay expensive but should save long term

toyed with this, but can end up doing as much motorway work in winter and what
if away on hol and see a nice lane, but my muds are at home, then time swapping
them and storing them. was looking at cheap aggressive muds, but by time got
rims looking at virtually as much as swapping full time to a good mud or at2 on
existing alloys.

or go for a compromise all rounder like grabber at2, were great on t2 and whilst these
ht's are good would want more aggressive next time. still wondering if to go to good
muds like cooper stt over at2 next time, has got me thinking for all round in all this
snow and even if noisey muds, dont do much over 65 with it for comfort.

kl71s are directional, good as more aggresive than grabber, but many reports say
not in true mudder league, then size issues, for troll cant get kl71 in 265/70x16
but can get at2 and unusually the stt, the only mud i can find in my size as a
quality fastish road tyre too, not some remould type...

keeping road tyres on most of the time would save fuel too!

I use mine on road and off every day and so preffer to use all terrain type tyres and accept the limitations of the vehicle without having to keep swapping and changing.

Though i am considering spare rims and muds for the odd day out :thumb2

Can't remember if i posted this on another thread or not :doh

I'm about 1/2 way round it now  Do it when i've got 5 mins free

Going to do the same to the 4 that are on Dirty Frog now when i upgrade asap to 35"s :naughty :sly :augie

Then I'm going to put the cut KL71's onto my spare wheels & see how they perform with the tread opened up @ Bures (sand) & Chelmsford (mud & woodland) & will report back.

They will only be used off road as i would say the risk of a blow out would be high for the amount of rubber i've removed :augie
