Thrust bearing or somat more serious?

My father inlaws T2 has been making some serious noises when the clutch is not pressed but goes when its pressed down, So we presumed it was the thrust bearing and ytoday fitted a brand new clutch kit complete with bearing. To no Joy the noise is still there so any suggestions are welcome???

Thrust bearings make a nois when you press the clutch and it goes away when you release the pedal - your problem sounds more serious, input shaft bearings or similar - time for a rebuild, recon or replace.

I have come to the conclusiopn it was bad, but just last night my bro in law jimmy 92 was on his way to fetch his fork with his navara and t2 and guess what it broke down, heavy smoke, no revs , no power and 1.5 hrs from home.

So being a good lad i jumped in the mav complete with new MAF and tank at about 90 the pull him back BUT once loaded with the trailer and his T2 on top the maverick decided it didnt want to play and gave up revving. OH SHIT I SAID!!!!!

But luckily I had took my old MAF so fitted it to mav and off she went to rescue the day.


£79 quid for that sensor and it lasted 55 miles.

Mine makes the same noise & has for 3 years now & have been quoted 1.5K to have it fixedso now just going to run it until it gives up & fit a secondhand box at this time:augie
