come on then give it your best shot :augie:augie:augie:lol:lol

well I've heard of snow on the roof but never a car with slates on them before. Or is it the drivers that have the odd slate loose:lol

Jim

why on earth would i wish to slate a vehicle that a friend obviously enjoys ? ...... you pays your money and you takes your choice and lives with the decisions .

A Isuzu will get walked over by a Terrano / Maverick td or TDi in standard spec all bar a set of mud tyres

FACT

Myself & Pete don't follow 1 of the Bonkas lads as he gets stuck at the smallest hurdle & he has said him self he wishes heed kept his Vitara as that's better than the Isuzu.

Power isn't everything off road.!

Isuzu is the name of a river that flows past a Japanese shrine. The word means "fifty bells pealing in harmony and celebration

its also a girls name in japanese ... sorta ideal pink phone territory :augie

The boy's name Nissan \n(is)-san\ is pronounced nee-SAN. It is of Hebrew origin

one of my ex bosses had a trooper ..... i saw him the other day driving through holmfirth in a rangerover :augie

I've not driven one but the trooper we know and have battled with is just too heavy and seems to be short of clearance, even though it had a suspension lift. I cant remember what tyres it had on though.
He had steering problems too, just like the terrano :lol

it is odd as the big horn has 210mm of ground clearance which was more than the mav i had, i havnt caught the base yet altho i did on the mav all the time :lol:lol

also it only 100kg between the t2 and trooper

Is the horn longer then? Could have been he had a bad tyre choice:nenau

As opposed to slating the Isuzu trooper or bighorn may I suggest something slightly different. How about some ideas on what models are worth keeping an eye out for and what ones to be avoided and what standard spec's are good to have on particular models.
There are a lot of the troopers or bighorns out there and often at good prices and it would be good to know what one's might be a good buy and which to avoid. (I have been told avoid the 2000 onwards 3.0ltr because of engine design fault).

Trouble is I only know a bit about Terranos :) I've seen lots of other trucks in action on lanes and pay n play sites thiough:thumbs
Landie 90 seems the best off road really BUT costs blinking loads to get there:eek:
The terrano needs only a small amount of cash to make it performwell off road.:thumbs
Nissan Patrol swb mmm now that's the boyo, big v8 n some lpg and a large wallet, yes please santa :D

the horn has a longer wheel base but is shorter overall when compared to the mav

another trooper tho i dont know mine was lower than the monty that came out with us and all he had done was stick 265 75 16 tyres on

standard they will happily accept 265 75 16/15 with out it rubbing.

trooper buying wise,

avoid the 3.0 like the plague due to gm's part in sorting out the injection side of things

their are many variations of the trooper, their is no trooper the same due to the availability of the options, they all tend to be different tbh

you can get a lsd or a open diff isuzu as that was an option on all models

try to pick up one with the winter pack (has twin bats) as this has the ceramic heater which on cold mornings is a great feature

the biggest problem with troopers is the rot (unless you go for the import) tends to go on the rear subframe

bighorns have a few spec differences
lotus handling pack
Irmscher pack

lotus has 2 verions the se and the ls, se is slightly more powerful and had a few extra option like electric leather seats, both have stiffer suspension

the Irmscher has heated recaro seats, side steps and tends to be the prettier of the lot

their are other variations
Isuzu Trooper, Isuzu Trooper II , Caribe 442, Acura SLX, Chevrolet Trooper, Subaru Bighorn, Honda Horizon, Opel/Vauxhall Monterey, Holden Jackaroo, and Holden Monterey

in the world of modding their is alot more parts off the shelf for the isuzu than the nissan's but just remeber its the same as anything else just keep your wits about you :thumb2

THEY LOOK LIKE BIG BOXES ON WHEELS...oh wait......

no i got nothing mate, i think they are brill!:thumbs
