A truly fantastic week end with a fantastic crowd of guy's n girls, Fez as before top notch in his organising and route planning, all the motors did extremely well, but it is not just the motor, good driving goes a long way as does expert spotting by Fez and Zac, as for damage, as said by others, T Doug did an indicator lens, Ian and I lost rear plates, I also dislodged my rear bumper on the last drop on the "Bastard" lane and on the drop before that did a OSF indicator lens, but I should have removed the half tonne of gear that I carry full time (rear bump rubbers are in good contact with the axle full time) but as always just lack of time, think I now regret the effort involved in removing and indeed replacing my tow bar, it would have saved some damage, might have hung on it but as it is on the body a bit of rocking would probably be enough to free it off, unlike when I hung on my rear diff but nonetheless a bit of rocking got it off, anyway it was a great experience, food was good caravan proved itself and although the motor is vibrating at idle I think this is due to exhaust rubbing and will need doing for imminent MOT anyway, so well happy, Rick

Wow, looked really great fun guys but I have to say I really wouldnt risk the damage a couple of you guys picked up.
Looks a great part of the world, the bothy looks ace.

Doug's 2nd mishap of the day, Power Steering fluid cooler pipes developed a leak so we cut it out with a junior hacksaw and re attached the ends with the flexible rubber section

Zac will be pleased I have vid of his rear end the whole time I was following him, yes including the bad drops etc, but I will need some tips on how to get them to him as I only have a 10gb monthly allowance, maybe I will put them on a USB stuck and send them? Rick

Day 2

The moon was full and the black Pearl was looming over in that direction somewhere, after Fez donned his Poncho, we decided to do a run across the moors, we heard the roar of the pearl in the distance, caught up with flashing lights and then gave the pearl a personal escort back to base camp :thumb2

I will put them all together and find out how much mem (yours that is) they take, I started with some 8 gb sticks but need loads for whole W/E so gave up, all copied to the hard drive at the mo, Rick

Damn fine weekend , even if I did only manage the Sunday.
Black Pearl was thrown in the deep end only a few hours after it's ground up rebuild.
Not finished or tested it did cause a few delays
Fuel system was sucking in air and the ground support team was awesome. Never had so many spanner monkeys in in my bonnet :lol
Thanks all who got me going again :clap
Later on the road section to Bastard lane I lost steering and had to do an emergency parking manouver
Luckily a gap opened up at that split second and so I put my towel right on it :D
Again big thanks to all who rummaged about trying to find a nut to suit.
Unfortunately I had to bow out at that point and let the convoy continue.
I waited for recovery but as it was taking forever , decided to make more of an effort to fix it myself.
Again I think Karma was with me as I found a tractor restorer chappie only a few hundred meters up the road. A rummage about his boxes eventually revealed the nut I needed to fix the Pearl :)
10 mins later I was on the road again.
Sorry I missed the end but home again under my own steam was very satisfying.
4x4 mojo well and truley found again.
Cheers all

Yep well done Pete, not many would be able to not only deal with the sudden steering loss and bring it safely to a stop in a lay by, but to go off and repair it locally as well = assume, Rick

Thats absolutely terrific guys. Great to see the pics and cant wait for the vids.

I think after a trip like that and finding the limitations of your vehicle, there may well be a few more modded trucks getting some nice off road treatment :lol t-doug, blocky...
