Rag1873,

Did you test the resistance of each plug individually with the buzz bar removed and did you check the voltage supply was there when key was turned on and then went to the on/off stage? Just wonder whether you have a duff temperature sensor that is telling the ecu the engine is warm when it is actually freezing.

yip, tested it all as per workshop download 6. everything was spot on to the instructions - much to my annoyance, i was hoping something would be wrong so i could fix the problem!!

ok, it didnt freeze last night and the car started first time this morning! Would this point to anything seen as its only on very cold mornings it doesnt start?

When was the last time you changed the antifreeze/coolant.

Most stuff is only good for a couple of years.

There is a way to check your coolant antifreeze ratio but I can't remember how it is done now. You need a special tool.

It hasn;t been topped up with just water by any chance?

it only got serviced last month so i assume it was all done as part of that. l'll check it anyway and maybe replace it if its easy enough to drain.

It may be worth checking the temperature sensor, it’s the front one on the side of the cylinder head to the right looking in from the front, the one with 2 wires going to it. You will need an ohm meter to test it, have a look in the cd manual it will show what it should read at certain temperature.

When did you last replace the battery ?

Last week when i thought it must be the battery that was causing my problem!!
Ive now got a brand new battery and one thats less than a year old fully charged in my boot to jump start the new one on cold mornings!!!!

Purchase an antifreeze tester, available at automotive parts stores. It's easy to use, and the instructions are included on the packaging. This will tell you whether you have the right level of antifreeze.
