Glad you fond the problem, don't you just hate it when previously owners make a mess of things? Lol:rolleyes:

Yep, that's why I still have the same truck, the only mods are the ones I have done.:thumbs

I had Similar problem, try putting Direct cables ie jump leads straight to the Starter motor, thus eliminating any bad Earth contacts, if this works, it proves you then have an Earth Issue, but you can run a new cable Direct from the Battery Earth straight to the Starter motor, The main bad Earth is usually from Chassis to Engine Block !

Good Luck

Banshee, surely you must have an auto electrician specialist nearby that'll sort you out with a good quality battery clamp. A bit of luck you could get one this morning. Remember there's a hell of a lot of current goes through it and the battery cables are thicker than standard car's so a normal battery clamp wont fit the cable.

Get the ones with extra bolts in it for auxillary cables. The tractor shop round the corner dont do interweb :lol

Yeah that what i was thinking when I saw the other two links as if I brought those ones from eBay I wouldn't be able to fit the other cables

I kind of gathered that from other posts I've read, it's useful having someone around with so much experience :), would you ever consider selling up for a new one or are you going to run her until she dies a death?

Not really sure we do to be honest, I'd like to think I know my area and whats in it like the back of my hand but nope, that's one thing we are short on the ground for :/

And we have a winner!!!!!!

I checked under the red cap that covers the battery terminals as I have never needed to look under there before and it looks as if the previous owner has f****d the connector and had just taped it back on with duck tape!!!

I've fixed it temporarily again with some insulation tape as shown below and will be off to the scrap yard in the morning for another one, failing that I may see if Ford stock them or maybe one from the bay of e

Guys again I can't thank you enough for all of your help, of all the forums I've ever joined I've never got as much help anywhere as I have from here!!! :D

LOVE YOU !!!!!! ;)
Looks like your battery terminal is brass so it's been replaced at some time - the original would have been lead, which tend to break easily. Mine went a few months ago and I replaced it with this yzp steel one, which cost me 2 euros here in Spain (about £1.70). will probably outlast the car!
