hi everybody, im looking to do some minor mods to my lwb 2.7td. she is our daily driver and does plenty of miles so nothing too daft but id like to try a pay & play day soon so could do with some tweaking i reckon. shes currently running 15" nissan alloys with chunky tyres making a 27" roling diameter. any ideas or tips would be great, thanks vince

If your tyres are in good nick why not try it as a standard motor? as long as your tyres are ok and the 4wd is working you do pretty well.

As above mate. Mines standard, I've put BF Goodrich all terrain tyres on it. (I use it for shooting,so it spends a lot of time on muddy fields etc) great trucks std & I've never been stuck yet!

It's true, mines basically standard and I've never got it stuck, you get more satisfaction when you beat the modded landrovers with you're standard terrano:D

How would you know? Come down to wales and join us on a pay and play. Also if people say they have never been stuck they just have not tried hard enough.

My terrano was appalling at the my local pay and play site.

I know because I off-road, I never had my truck stuck, probably because I've not driven it into places I know it would get stuck:lol

But if you don't push yourself over the limit how do you know where the limit is?

Because I've been on the limit just not enough to get stuck, eg sliding backwards when all 4 wheels are going forwards, I know that's the limit of traction for road tires, didn't jut stuck tho, just taken another route

If I push over the limit it will be one of those situation " I'm stuck I'm the middle of no where, mr farmer can you bring your John Deere & pull me out" lol

Thats Why u NEVER EVER EVER go out alone!!!! :doh

& ryan the mud couldn't of been that deep neither cos u need to been chassis deep to get stuck, unless the towbar digs in after a bouncy rut :doh

If your at a pay and play push as far as it will go someone always willing to winch or tow you out.
Much more fun if you take it where you think its not capable you might be pleasantly suprised i know i was :thumbs

Take your rear anti roll bar off, it does nowt, just make sure your front drop links are good and the bushes are ok

Then do my cheap 40mm+ lift that is stickied in mod section if u want more

What will removing the rear anti role bar achieve? (Sorry for being think)

More rear axle articulation

wont removing it ruin my onroad handling? i drive with the wife and 4 kids in so dont want to be inducing any extra vomit lol i like the body lift though and was looking at the spring topmount thing with the modded landrover bits. is it worth doing this without the lift?

Personally my bit for what it is worth, a road going motor should be just that a full road spec motor, as soon as you put lift kits etc you are compromising safety, the insurance company's know this and your premium will go up, if you want off road spec then go off road only, but this is only my opinion, Rick

Actually modded 4x4 insurance is pretty much the same. Not everyone is gifted with being able to tow bigger trailers either or in a financial position to pay or own a place to store a non road legal 4x4.

More and more pay and play sites require vehicles to be insured, tax and tested.
