Spill valve module?

Hi all,

My friend has got two Terrano LWB 3.0's and both have problems,

He's a truck driver and when he gets back to his yard he pulls in, starts his car, leaves it running and then goes and parks his lorry, on this occasion he came back and the car had stalled, he tried but couldn't get it started again, it was serviced four weeks earlier and had been running well, anyway his mechanic has said the problem is with the spill valve module on the pump? and will need to be sent away for inspection, has anyone had this and know how much it will cost etc? he might remove the one off the other one he has yet which is suffering from possible rear diff problems so he has one on the road,

The car has been known to go into limp type mode fairly regularly in his ownership if i remember but not sure if there is a link as he never gave me any more info,

Spill valve on the pump is nothing but gobbledegook, there is no such thing, Rick

I had a feeling that may be the case, hopefully the mechanic is honest and my friend has got the name wrong!
Apparently he read the code and then his mate had to come over with a laptop,

Apparently they rang the Nissan dealer and there is such a part although my friend may have got its name wrong i suppose, its on the diesel pump or somewhere near the bottom of the engine.

Dealer would not know one side of a fuel pump from another, it is not something they would deal with any more than they would deal with Turbo parts, new Turbo or nothing, so think we need to wait for accurate info, Rick

Maybe a secondhand pump then.

Think hard to come by, better sort the other motor with a diff oil change, was it a front or rear wheel that would not turn, Rick

Maybe he can get the pump reconditioned, looks to be around £600 someone said, he does want to get both repaired if possible,

It was the rear wheel so a diff oil change is a good start, he said earlier he smelt burnt gear oil at the time.

Mmmm bad oil can cause bad noises but if wheel locked up due to diff fail not so good, but more likely linings come off shoes as Jim said, so could well be a quicker fix than pump repair, Rick

The seller said there were noises coming from the rear diff area but my mate couldn't make it do it on the test drive, he took it up to 60mph, maybe he can find someone local to take a look as the mechanic he's using is forty minutes away.

the noises on the rear diff as it is limited slip only ocure when one rear wheel is going faster than the other, in a dead straight line the diff clutch is not working, Rick

He was going in a straight line when the fault happened and he said he heard a clicking from the rear somewhere.
