mine is 2003, TDI and a lot of people use it!

It has been suggested that Bosch pumps are better suited to SVO but i know there are members here who have done a lot of miles on SVO with Zexel pumps. I think the rule of thumb is - if you have a Bosch MAf you have a Bosch pump. Search the threads for this there is loads of info :thumb2

As Plank says, no it doesn't make a jot of difference - the 2.7 engine was, apart from the addition of the intercooler on the MkII onwards, unmolested for its entire life in any way that would impact using SVO.

Just stick a few litres in when your diesel is low, so you have a decent ratio, and see how it performs, you might be happily surprised.

Just one proviso....using it in a healthy engine is 100% OK, but if your engine has underlying performance problems, the SVO is very lkikely to exacerbate them....but don't blame it! Just means you have something that needs fixing.:thumb2

hello,
not sure why you had to change the rear lights?
my family live in Mijas, and over the years i did a few uk to spanish car itv's, i know they are getting tougher than they were, but what did they want rear lights changing for?
did you go to the big test centre on the road to malaga?
next test in two years?

have they given up charging ileagle import duty on uk/eu cars now?
had a big row with the police (civil) and council over this, in the end we did a deal!

steve
I had to change (and rewire) the rear lights because the Terrano has only one rear fog and one reversing light, and the law states that the fog must be nearest the centre of the road, cars with two fogs & reversing lights wouldn't have to change them. Once I had changed the lights I then had to extend the wiring for each light to the other side of the car.

The ITV centre I went to is on a big industrial estate near Malaga town centre (next door to a brothel - legal in Spain!) As far as I am aware the tests are annual, but I could be wrong, and the import duty is allegedly on a sliding scale, the older the car the cheaper the duty - I paid 830 euros, that covered the duty, the admin charge, the new number plates and an inspection to ensure the car was standard (no body lift, original size wheels and tyres and no added accessories such as towbar, bullbar, winch etc!!!)

Well done mate - just need to give that veggie oil a go now LOL:thumb2

Def. going to give that a try - diesel is up to a tad under 1.30 euros here too, so SVO at around 1.10 a litre is a good saving - thanks for the tip.
