It usually misses Derby but snow is predicted next week.

I will be interested to see how the Santa Fe compares to the old r3mR.

The Chrysler 300 C will be undrivable ! LOL

I'll believe it when I see it but I am unbelievably excited!!!! :clap

well , for once im not excited ...... my new bungalow is 900 ft above sea level , and I don't have a 4x4 anymore ... ive got a French thingie berlingo wotsit

Should have a new set of boots on next week so bring it on:thumb2

Yeah if we get 2 inches of snow, then this country grinds to a halt.Notwithstanding 4x4 owners of course.

The problem is that these idiots who go out unprepared except for a mobile phone, then abandon their cars where they stop, blocking the road for others.:doh

I've waited ages for some prat to drive a few yards, but when it's clear I just go.

When people want a tow, I say... put your tow rope on my tow bar and off we go... "What ! no tow rope":nenau
then use your shovel to dig out your wheels... " What ! no shovel":nenau
then put some of your rock salt around your driving wheels... " What ! no salt":nenau

There is no helping some idiots...

Most wouldn't know where to tie a tow rope then expect you to crawl under their car, whilst they stay in their warm dry car. No Flipping Chance.

I'm not using mine, or my shovel, or my bucket of salt, or my blankets...
They're in the Mav, but I have never had to use them for me, so far.:augie
I'm fed up of using My Salt to help others... Done this for 18 winters so far with my Mav:augie

I will of course help vulnerable people, and help those who help then selves.:thumb2
I have stopped many times on Cannock Chase to aid drivers who have spun off into the ditches, but most people just drive past. I do wonder if any one would stop for me...

Don't forget guys, new to 4x4's, you might have the traction to keep going, but you won't stop any quicker than a standard road car, so take it easy, you don't want to end up in a ditch, with BMW drivers laughing at you...:doh

Snow soon ?

Front wheel drive should cope - then there are winter tires or snow chains if things get bad.

As rustic said, it's the stopping that's the problem. Give yourself about 5 times the stopping distance, and when on estates and urban areas you should be doing about 10mph max

Abs is a total twat on these and snow makes it twice as bad

if the snow can hold off until Wednesday that would be nice - im having a new Windscreen fitted Tuesday, then it will be my first drive out for about 4 or 5 weeks...!

In the past, I have driven along the verge to get around roads blocked by other cars, I just keep moving and planning my route.
As mentioned about braking in the snow, the other thing to watch out for are the idiots behind you...some drivers should just stay off the road when the white stuff comes.

Fixed it for you! :thumbs

it is quite scary how some people drive in the snow (in any bad weather).

I hear the attitudes from people at work for example, its all "its just a bit of snow get moving" attitude, and these same people brag about driving normally or fast or overtaking. OK, some of these people get lucky, or have been lucky over time so this gives them a false confidence. Im talking about people in small vans, cars even motorbikes. People who drive too fast, brake too hard, make stupid rash decisions.

Not everyone is like this of course, accidents happen. A lot of cars give the driver a feedback that exudes confidence on the road but of course this isn't the case when a tyre hits ice, doesn't matter what Audi youre driving, its gonna slip, skid and crash like the rest of us!

im ranting, shut up Clivvy!

we had snow today...
I hadn't seen the forecast before bed last night and after such a mild day yesterday the last thing I expected was the arctic conditions today.

It wasn't much over a cm thick but it was frozen solid:eek:

I can well do without it this side of xmas as I don't want to miss out on work and my xmas tips:D.
but we are green laning on sunday which could prove to be fun:naughty
now wheres me winter woolies

Always adds to the fun a bit of snow on the lanes.
Some are a bit scary when you can't see what's in front of you.

I notice your next mod is roof lights:D
Ive got mine. and am hoping to fabricate a rail before I see you sunday then you can powder coat it for me:D:D:D:bow

We got a dusting this morning but it didn't last very long

I had both driveshafts off today to replace the shit balcast outer cv boots I put on that lasted about 6 months. Rolling around on gravel mud and freezing water, grim.

that is bad news, fitted a couple of new boots to my off roader a while ago, do not remember the make but hope they last better than that, they must have been old stock or something to fail in that time, Rick

incidentally did you knock the CV's of the shaft to do it properly or are you talking about the stretch thingy's that will be totally useless, Rick
