Hi Chaps (and Ladies).
I am new to the forum but could do will a little help, the 3.0 manual :confused:T2 has done 73k miles and today the gearstick has gone sloppy. I can still engage gears and there are no nasty noises but the gear stick now has about 3 inches of play in all direction even when in gear. Any ideas of the cause and is it a simple fix.

Problem now sorted, bush (Nissan part No 32861-01G00) replaced at bottom of gear lever. The old bush had warn allowing it to slip of the ball at the bottom of the gear lever.
Getting access to the top of the gearbox took a phone call to my dealer to find out how to remove the facia of the instrument panel so the center consol could be removed, easy when you know.

great news..

cause you took pics of how to do it then....

Yes I took some pictures if you can tell me how to load them I will do so.

Changing the bush at the bottom of the gear lever (Nissan part number 32861-01\G00)
Remove the centre fascia (this also allows the radio to be removed).1) Using a large flat blade screwdriver carefully prise off the silver finisher that holds the gear lever covers in position on the centre console.
2) Remove the 2 screws at the bottom of the centre fascia.
3) Remove the ashtray (pull out and depress the paddle to fully remove)
4) Remove the 2 screws either side of the ashtray aperture.
5) My vehicle is fitted with the single CD player/radio and the surround needs to be prised out it is held in place by 2 spring clips at the top and 2 poppers at the bottom.
6) Remove the 2 screws either side of the radio.
7) Then starting at the top ease/pull the fascia from the front of the dash, ensure you don’t loose the 6 spring clips that retain the lower part of the fascia (note the spring clips are the same as the radio surround top clips).

Remove the centre console (keep the screws separated from the fascia as they are not the same)
1) Remove the 2 screws exposed by removing the fascia.
2) Remove the small T panel under handbrake and remove the 2 screws underneath.
3) Open the CD storage box and remove the 2 screws located inside.
4) From the back seat ease up the centre console an push out the 12V socket, remove the connector.
5) The centre console can now be eased out.

Remove the main gear lever.1) Remove the transfer gearbox knob (it screws off).
2) Lift off the PVC gaiter from the transfer lever.
3) Open the Velcro tabs and ease back the carpet.
4) Remove the screws retaining the rubber gaiter retaining ring.
5) Slide the rubber gaiter up the main gear lever as far as you can to gain access to the gearbox.
6) Remove the 4 bolts (12mm head) holding the gear lever.
7) Ease out the gear lever.
8) Fish out the bush from the ring on the gearbox.
9) Lightly grease then fit new bush to ball on bottom of gear lever (I had to use a small hammer).

The put it all back together again (apply sealant to gearbox cover before refitting)

Another great workshop download, with good pictures, well done.:clap:clap:clap:clap
