Nothing done today as had small fire in flats over Bears, (deliberate) but now fire service involved so while people still in the rooms (they should of been out by new year) we have had to install a load of fire safety shit to protect people that should not be there anyway, council no help as the rules seem to state that they cannot do anything until they are on the street, the system stinks, anyway it meant I had a whole shit load of stuff to do to satisfy the fire department, Rick

OK bit more done today, finished the rear storage, put 3 Ali rails under each draw cos I know over time sand and other debris will get in there and wood to wood would have been bad news with grit, must have bought that Ali 30 years ago for a job that did not need it, used 2 lengths out of 5, sprayed the draw underside with Waxoil, and they slide a dream, so now got loads of storage out of sight for power tools etc and loads of top space for boxes of screws, washers, plumbing spares, etc, etc plus the odd tool box with hand tools etc, well pleased as I can keep the seats clear for people on the odd times that I need, as otherwise nick the Mrs mtor at present, so she is happy as well, win win all round

If I'm not like Rick when I'm Ricks age then I'll be pissed!!!!!! :bow :bow

I cannot believe how crap firms can scam people so much, went to that ladies home today not knowing what to expect, and was confronted with a 2 year old air source heat pump that looked OK but was not working at all, having had a good look round and noting many out of order points of installation homed in on the remote room stat, having then been told the problems started when the batteries were changed, I immediately asked if she had reset or paired the device to the fixed unit, and of course she had not, so completed this procedure for it to all start working, however, it is vastly undersized, the copper pipework from the outdoor unit and up into the bungalow loft (why the loft) is in 28mm pipe!, (great heat loss due to wasted water volume never going to get used) 15mm would be well capable of transferring the amount of heat this unit can provide with much less loss, circulating pump was so close to floor that it can only be mounted with the vent plug at the top!, primary control panel in airing cupboard on side wall, so for me and customer almost impossible to see clearly even with a torch and glasses, system far too complicated for an elderly lady, and as I explained if the outdoor temperature gets to around -4 it will not work anyway, so the upshot is this company charged over £8k and installed this system in place of a gas boiler, that will at best only warm the property and provide warm not hot water, unless the outside temp is above about 6 or 7 deg, how can these companies rest with their conscience, Rick

I feel your pain and it doesn't get any better on larger projects. I'm battling aginst some designs on schools which are not just rubbish, they're not going to work and nobody seems to care. If the manufacturers says it's going to work, that appears to be good enough as far as taking responsibility and when the problems come, it's always someone else's fault. It can't be the unit not working, it must be the BMS, or something else.
The result is that expensive kit is not used and genuine kit has problems going in as customers lose trust.
Ground source is logical, MVHR would probably have been the best option for this customer.

Ground source is not viable in this case, and given her age and understanding a simple up/down room stat with a condensing gas boiler would of been the best option, , it may be that I organise this for her in the future, something TD could do in a weekend, Rick

Not just the companies, the people that install know what is suitable for what application and should be ashamed doing stuff like that. I have refused to do jobs on similar grounds, once got the boot for fixing a boiler I was supposed to replace :lol

Adapted a puller for the crank pulley, manual just says use a conventional puller, it does not mention how you hold the crank while undoing a 105 ft lb bolt, was thinking about removing the starter, but thought I would try 4th gear with HB on hard, bearing in mind that normally there is far too much wind up through the axle for this to work (not enough swing on the knuckle bar) but on this motor the HB is on the prop shaft, worked pefectly

Cam pulley off for oil seal renew, but does not look easy as this plate has to get out of the way and a cable runs through it to the IP

Initially thought I would have to take the whole plate off but it is split near the tensioner pulley

Crank pulley fell off, just as well as no space behind for puller and holes not threaded
