I've replaced the rear dampers and springs on my LWB 99 plate T2.

Now the nuts holding the top of the shocks in place were a real pain to get off and are a bit chewed up.

I know a 17mm socket/Spanner fits them however, does anyone know what the thread is on these? I've asked nissan, they want £2 each for them and will not tell me the size.

Cheers

John

best advise take the old nut to your local diy store and they will be able to match it

I tried that but its not a standard thread, The outside is a 17mm which I think is m10 however the thread is not m10- if that makes sense.

Is ther not a fastners dealer near you that stocks nuts and bolts etc for industry? they are usualy good and may be able to tell you the thread if not supply the nuts.

You could also try a local garage as they may have a box of mixed nuts knocking around!

The local agriculture engineers keep this fine thread, but take the old one with you to make sure...bri

That's only £4 for the 2 nuts.... is it really worth the hassle of trying to find an alternative to the genuine item

I make it a point never to agree with Bat21, but he does have a point, there isnt much monwy to be saved by the time you have messed around searching it will cost more to go elsewhere. And you will have a nice genuine nissan invoice for your service history folder
