Hi Pete, sounds really nice, but! how far are the nearest medical facilities? doctors etc, you know you will need these in the future, I am really concerned that for you an isolated location is not suitable, I cannot understand the SS offering you a place like this, you really need somewhere near to the facilities you need, Rick

HI RICK ,

the hospital is about 6 miles away , as for doctors ...... my own gp is about 4 miles away , and queensbury is quite a big village , as is buttershaw .... so im fairly sure medical facilities will be not too much of a problem , im only on the list for this bungalow anyway , I haven't been offered it yet , even though I have priority status , there may be others who need this more than me :nenau , I will find out on Monday ....... thanks for your concern rick , yes I realise I will get worse and medical facilities are something I need to take into account :thumb2

its finding a suitable compromise between sheltered housing / care ...... and independence ........ I have to think of Sheila too

Hmmmm Buttershaw, that's "Rita, Sue and Bob Too" country that is. I bet 96terrano aint old enough to of heard of that film:lol:lol:lol

not really buttershaw .... its shelf , sorta up the hill towards queensbury ..... as for the film , don't corrupt him jim :augie:lol:lol

hm , Sheila isn't too sure mate , shes worried about the isolation / shopping / doctors etc
Being isolated isn't such a bad thing and like all have said shopping to your door, If Sheila is worried check out my post code on google earth, doesn't really bother me at all, the local farmers have my phone number and they are only a call away should I need help. DN9 1EE

good to consider all the negatives, but I think although it is a little bit isolated in terms of geography, its not that bad mate, and a heck of a lot of people live there who also have medical needs etc. I reckon you'd be fine, doctors would get to you just as quick as where you are now. and if you think about it, the nearest supermarket in Queensbury is closer than the nearest supermarket to you (its a Tesco express I believe-near where a friend of mine lives)

well ...... I got a phone call from the housing dept ...... its mine !!!!! :D:naughty:naughty....... they are just cleaning it / sorting it out .... then we will have to decorate / wallpaper it etc ..... volunteers ? :augie:lol:lol

Well done really pleased for you and Sheila, get to know the local farmers, they are usually a good sort and will help you out should you need it. Before I got the Misty I was coming out of my lane in really bad snow in the celica.. the lane has a slight incline at the top and I got stuck, a quick call to one of my local farmers and he was there in the tractor to pull me out. They even cleared the lane and drive for us....
