Bet you will check more often now then, you should not be passing that amount of oil in the first place, my 2.8 uses nothing between changes with standard set up, incidentally, do the glass test to determine when you should change your oil, it could be less than 6k, dip your oil and place a drop on a clean bit of glass take another bit of glass and place it on top and squeeze till it is a bit bigger than a 2p now hold it up to the light, if it is translucent then is still good if you can barely see through it then change it now, Rick

Mine barely uses anything, although I must fit a catch can when I get 5 mins

I check mine regular and it's usually a few ml of water with a few splodges of oil in here and there :thumb2

That much oil in my Catch Can could be a sign that my piston rings are shot! :doh

Got my Cousin from Oz sending me over a De Cat'd 3" Dump Pipe! :clap

Organised this before I realised I had this oil issue! Really got my work cut out to get the Patrol pulling like it should!

And the other, from somewhere in England which took longer! :lol

Operation Radius Arms

Today I started the task of replacing the radius arms. (I've got some footage, so when the job is done I will put together a video!)

Cracking the nuts was a bitch, but I got there in the end... Here's a comparison between the new arm and the old arm.

I decided to do one at a time. I managed to locate the chassis and rear axle bolt much easier than anticipated... But It was the front one that caused me grief.

Eventually tho, I got some help from a passing foot and got the bugger located.

The second arm came out nicely, the new one went in as easily and the chassis bolt located quickly.

I ran out of light tonight, but all that's left to do is line up the two axle bolts and Bob's your Aunt's husband!

:clap:clap:clap

Nice one Jay, think you would have located the 1st front bolt easier if you had removed the other side bolt to allow the axle to twist, but just shows it is an easy enough job on the ground, Rick

Yes, that's exactly the conclusion I came to! (You will see in the video) :thumbs

I got the last little bits buttoned up this morning before I went to work! Drove the truck down to work and all feels good! :clap

Hi Jay
Just watched the video, it's very good, informative and well presented. I can't seem to see where I can comment though.
Downside is the sound is quiet maybe time for a proper Mike lol

Odd that you can't comment?

Yeah, I think I do need to invest in a mic for videos outside... Seems the volume does struggle a bit sometimes! :doh

These are now available from Escape 4x4...

Surely these can't be anymore 'illegal' than the drop plate that I'm currently using?

I was wondering though, if something can be individually tested to give it the proper certification to be used on our roads?

I trust the 2" receiver system as it's used widely in the US and they tow some huge loads!

This won't fit on our UK tow bar assemblies anyway... Totally different set up! :doh
