Mmmmm me thinks you will knock em off easier, I am going to remove the two front ones that I have left as they are about to fall off anyway, then be looking at strengthening the wings with some steel, thinking along the lines of 3 or 4 mm plate cut to shape, Rick

I wish I had that kinda skill Rick! :nenau

Eventually got round to posting another video on YouTube...

Chick HERE to see me fitting the wheel arches. (Well one of them!)

I'm still thinking of going round all my arches and swapping the screws out for rivnuts. Got a pic of the more aggressive finished article?

I had a 2 hour battle with one Riv Nut... I wouldn't recommend it. :lol

I'll get a picture up a bit later on! :naughty

Do not think I would recommend Riv Nuts for the wing area, I can see them rusting and becoming non removable later in life, Rick

I never did get round to telling you guys my story from this week!

On Sunday I had a little time to do some work on the Patrol. I decided it was time to change the drag link and steering damper... I mean I've only had them sitting in the garage since I bought my lift kit from Pedders nearly 3 years ago! :doh

So with a few whacks of the hammer I had the old stuff out and lined it up next to the new gear!

Once adjusted the Drag link dropped into place without a fuss, but when it came to the damper... NOPE!

The tapered bolts that it come with didn't fit on the Patrol where the original had came out... They didn't even fit on the bracket that joins it to the drag link! :nenau

I checked the part numbers against the parts on the Pedders website and they all matched up... The only difference was, the ones pictured on the Pedders site had the ball joints that I expected the steering damper to have.

A quick email to Pedders the next day explaining my problem, they said that the one I had should fit, but the one on the website superseids the one I bought.

I explained again that the tapered ends didn't fit, and in the next email to me they said that they'd send me out a new steering damper free of charge... Didn't even ask for the old one back!

Now that's customer service! :clap:clap:clap

Jay, what's the advantage of having an adjustable drag link?

Because the truck has been lifted, and will be lifted again to total 4", it needs to be longer to correct the steering geometry.

I'm also looking into getting some new radius arms to correct the castor angle. (Again, as the suspension is lifted, the standard radius arms pull the axle backwards, so the wheel sits further back in it's arch... The longer arms will push it back to centre)

I'm thinking these by Raptor 4x4.

They're £499... I can't afford Superior Engineering ones! :doh

Also allows you to adjust for your steering wheel going out of alignment over time.

Jay just confirming that damper doesn't look correct!

Yeah, it had me a bit perplexed when I was trying to bolt it up!

Love that they sent me a new one though! What to do with the old one?

Make some brackets up and run it on the misses x trail :D

What do you want a damper for anyway? Rick

To Dampen the steering? :nenau

I'll let you know if it takes the wobble out of the wheels when I get it up to motorway speeds at the weekend!

I'm off to North Yorkshire for the Northern Shooting Show! :D
