Hi folks,
Just to get up to date ; I got my new radiator on , changed the fan/alternater belts and fuel filter. I would now like to do an oil change but can someone tell me the reference or dimensions of the copper sump washer please?

Incidently I'm still waiting for a back indicator that i bought on eBay to replace the one that got nicked and since someone has kicked my wing mirror in ,or rather OUT! What next?

Hi
What side rear light do you want :?: is it for a LHD or RHD cos I have a near side light lense for a LHD ie no reversing light built in if you want it I would like £10.00 + p&p if you are interested I'll find out the price of p&p.
Sorry can't help with the mirror glass, but have you tried ebay for that.

regards

Hi dave

We seem to be missing the essential here which is the reference for the sump washer but thanks for your quick reply which has not fallen on deaf ears

Yes I will have that rear light of yours if its in good condition and will fit my 94 maverick. What i was saying is that i've already bought one for the left hand side on eBay and I've now also found a mirror there too.It was the whole mirror that got snapped off and unfortunately not just a broken glass. I haven't had the oyher side vandelised yet but who knows a spare light may be handy to have. Please let me know for the postage and can i pay you by paypal?

send me your e-mail address and I'll send you a photo of the light

Re sump washer, I have used the same one now for 3 + oil changes, I put a small amount of Calortite (used to help seal gas fittings) on the threads and washer and tighten as normal. Never a drop of oil ever passes. On previous cars done the same.
A similar product is red hematite, this never sets and wipes off with meths.
From a previous thread, you could heat the washer to cherry red with a blow lamp and cool rapidly, this will soften the washer and allow a better seal.

why not just buy a genuine oil filter, i only ever buy genuine and they always come with a new washer

why not go to local nissan garage and buy one. They are not expensive

Thats about the best thing to do, there are 2 sizes pre 96 and post 96 It's not actually a washer as such it's a hollow section that flattens when you trap it between the shoulder on plug nut and the sump pan.
I bougt one 3 years ago about 57 pence I think it was, but have changed oil dozens of times and no leaks since

Nearest nissan garage is miles away. At the moment I'm out in the sticks in the middle of nowhere. I called them for the info the other day but they were a bit balshy about it and hadn't got time to look! I called back again today and spoke to someone else who gave me two references so i went and got them both. I don't know that the oil filter I ordered a while back from milners isn't a genuine one. I haven't even opened it yet and there may well be a washer in the box. The thought never struck me! Thanks

Try a Ford Dealer???? Maverick?????

Try Renault :!: In the UK Nissan/Renault garages are combining (one in the same)

You don't get a sump plug washer with an oil filter

Every filter i have bought has had one mate, the only time one didnt i just asked and they gave me one. think its only if you buy ones from places like halfords or something that you dont get a washer with it

Where do you get filters from. I get from local motor factors, we are on the same item aren't we? Copper washer for the drain plug. Most filters fit more than one vehicle, and all the vehicles it fits won't have the same drain plug.
Maybe the gen Nissan ones have a washer?

I've never had a sump washer with a filter either. I sell quite a large number of them to garages, if someone can tell me the size for the Terrano, I'll see how much I can do them for to club members.

i only buy from nissan dealer. always has washer, yes its the copper coloured washer that flattens out when you tighten the plug. every car i have had i get genuine from dealer filters and they all came with washers. although i think it was hyundai that charged a few extra pence for them?

Thats why then, never ever bought a filter from main dealer, don't belive in paying £20 for summut they pay £3 for.
I only buy things I can't source anywere else

paid £12 for my oil filter from nissan, I'm told that genuine filters are different than others for various reasons. something about valves and opening/closing pressures? not sure if this is all BS but sounded good so just buy them, and at just over a fiver more twice a year, it doesnt break the bank

Thats cheap from main dealer. My local dealer wanted £30 for an oil filter for my T2. They never got it and I didn't get my free sump washer -rotfl-

Never had a free sump plug washer with filter from motor factors
