Since the lock down I haven't driven the Jeep at over 40 mph but today wound her up to 70 mph - there was a quite bad vibration that started at around 60 mph until it got worse the faster I drove. It felt front endish but not a typical wheel balance vibration.

Being a 5 Cylinder they have an odd engine thrum as standard.
Initially it felt like petrol engine with a duff plug lead type misfire.
After further testing by holding her in manual mode there was no engine misfire even at close to full revs so have ruled out any connection with the recently fixed injector seal leaks. The engine is nice and sweet in the first three low gears so am thinking driveline / wheel balance.

MoT advisories below

Rear Anti-roll bar pin or bush worn but not resulting in excessive movement both d-bushes (5.3.4 (a) (i))
Drag link end ball joint has slight play (2.1.3 (b) (i))
Nearside Front Upper Suspension component ball joint has slight play (5.3.4 (a) (i))
Offside Front Upper Suspension component ball joint has slight play (5.3.4 (a) (i))

I have sorted the rear ARB bushes not sure if the above might be the culprits. All four tyres replaced after MoT so should be okay - seems unlike a wheel balance problem but above might exaggerate any issues.

Any tips on where to start ?

Give it another go and try to differentiate between engine and steering. Can you feel it through the steering wheel or through your seat?
Is it regular in nature or irratic? Can you feel it through the whole body of the car?

From what you say however my initial guess would be that your own gut feeling would be right and that you have thrown a wheel weight.
Second guess, and only a guess as not familiar with the specifics of the jeep but possibly prop shaft? Give both a good waggle at each end.

I like your train of thought - no pun intended.

Did another road test this morning after dropping Wendy at work. Same bit of road not a hint of the vibration.

Over the last couple of days I have parked the vehicle on the driveway a bit wonky with the nearside rear wheel sort of half up my drive headers that are like a kerbstone. Am wondering if its as daft as a tyre flat spot that caused the issue.

I might be jumping to conclusions though - it might be erratic / intermittent.

Hmmm interesting that is, I wonder.
What size tyres are they and what pressure?

They are Uniroyal Rainsports 235/65 R17 tyres 33 psi XL sidewalls

29" inch tyres, plenty of pressure in them so I doubt they will have been misformed on the edge stones, unless it's a very heavy car.

Standard terrano pressure is 26psi, 29" tyres.

They are over 2 Tons but it was the back wheel, given the lock down not had time to re-test at the required speed. When the Jeep was in the garage last week I did ask them to grease all the suspension & drive shaft nipples.

Local Garage Diagnosis is its the Transfer Box !

My local garage looked at the Jeep GC Wj today and after removing the front drive shaft coupling 80-90 % of the vibration at 70 mph has gone.

Advised to get second opinion but other stuff like wheels, tyres & front suspension has been ruled out.

Not going to consider replacing the transfer box I'll just keep the speeds below 65 mph and look to chop her in for another 4x4 when the lock down is over & vehicle prices might drop due to lack of buyers.

No rush so will take my time. Gaffer wants another Jeep as she loves them but might look wider and newer something around 2012 plate with less than 50k miles.

With the Terrano I did had the same.
After a bit of searching I got a 2nd hand drive shaft and problem solved :thumb2
