Since the lock down I haven't driven the Jeep at over 40 mph but today wound her up to 70 mph - there was a quite bad vibration that started at around 60 mph until it got worse the faster I drove. It felt front endish but not a typical wheel balance vibration.
Being a 5 Cylinder they have an odd engine thrum as standard.
Initially it felt like petrol engine with a duff plug lead type misfire.
After further testing by holding her in manual mode there was no engine misfire even at close to full revs so have ruled out any connection with the recently fixed injector seal leaks. The engine is nice and sweet in the first three low gears so am thinking driveline / wheel balance.
MoT advisories below
Rear Anti-roll bar pin or bush worn but not resulting in excessive movement both d-bushes (5.3.4 (a) (i))
Drag link end ball joint has slight play (2.1.3 (b) (i))
Nearside Front Upper Suspension component ball joint has slight play (5.3.4 (a) (i))
Offside Front Upper Suspension component ball joint has slight play (5.3.4 (a) (i))
I have sorted the rear ARB bushes not sure if the above might be the culprits. All four tyres replaced after MoT so should be okay - seems unlike a wheel balance problem but above might exaggerate any issues.
Any tips on where to start ?
