none starter

hi i have a 1998 terrano 2.7tdi went to it at dinner time started straight away left it idling for 30 mins no problems i then moved it 60 foot turned it off wont start .it did this a week ago & i fiddled with a few wires on top of engine & it started done the same again today no joy .diesel primer is hard but no diesel at injector 1 with pipe loose & engine cranking .i am going to check stop selonoid on pump it,s got power to it & also power to heater plugs .any help would be good as i am baffled buy it thanks

Could be your NATS, Nissan Anti- Theft System.

Sometimes disconnecting the battery for a while helps, this resets the NATS.

Other members will be along shortly, but do a search on "NATS" and have a read.

Edit: I assume the engine turns over during this time.

hi rustic thanks for your reply truck does turn over ok.. i am going to give battery a good boost as when this problem occured recently it had been charged overnight & started nearly straight away ..so could be the nats as you say many thanks..

The battery terminals can also be problematic, do a search on this too.

hi again allready done terminals & cleaned earths near battery checked & replaced glow plugs &cleaned checked stop solenoid switch works ok still no start will fire with aesy start in air filter got fuel at filter as primer is hard just not getting fuel to injectors also replaced battery with a new one also had it disconected for a while still same any ideas would help ..i have another terrano for spares which started & ran fine body rotten but good for bits thanks

The only time I had this problem was when the battery was on it's way out......So I fitted a brand new one with a good amp/hr rating and high CCA and it fires up perfectly now.

hi dave put a brand new battery on from halfords today & still got same problem i got my suspition on wiring or nats unlock on remote & alarm light flashes on dash put ignition on & it goes off but don,t know if it is taking imobalizer off... checking wires on top of engine tomorrow may be some broke as it looks like they been taped up not factory done thanks..

update swapped sticking stop solonoid re bled diesel to injectors & she burst into life been trying it for last couple of days & best it has ever started so done some good putting time into these smaal things well chuffed thanks for all advice best £10 quid i spent in ages ...
