A little list of issues that I've found so far other than the obvious suspension issues;

Snapped Torsion Bar
Damaged Compression Rod Chassis Mount
New set of wheels and tyres needed
Drivers External Door Handle not working
Mirror Caps not the right colour

I might be able to do something about the tyres and wheels.

It would be a bit boring Jim :lol It would be two steps, clip off, clip on :doh

Not to me that wants to know how to remove cover from my damaged mirror and then fit it to a good mirror again without damaging it.

Its literally that easy Jim it would take me longer to do the write up than the job itself

I was having a bit more of a hoover out earlier and decided to pull the boot carpet and have a look at the state of the floor and known seat belt anchor point problem areas.

I was pleasantly surprised :)

Looking good but you need to go a bit deeper, Unless you have. Where it starts to go down to the drivers floor level.
So far looking like a t2 with pretty good body work! :)

Had already looked mate and all seems good in that area too :thumb2

I found the blue wing mirrors from storage and got to swapping them.

This is a guide just for Jim :thumb2

Remove the door card and pull the plastic sheet out of the way of the mirror electric connector and wiring

Move the black plastic door tweeter out of the way exposing x3 10mm Hex Screws holding the mirrors to the door

Undo, Switch Mirrors and do the reverse of what you've done and you're finished

Been having a bit more of a poke around underneath and decided to get to get going with a strip down up front. A full prep and Waxoyl will be done and another rebuild up front :thumb2

Wheel off and behold the muck!!!

Here's the issue with the suspension :doh

I pulled the "sh*t catchers" aka arch rubbers out and my heart sank when I saw the amount of rust on the front body mount :(

I got my massive pry bar out and metal lump hammer and really didn't play with it from all angles and I'm pleased to report that it all just seems to be surface rust and nothing at all under there appears to be structural :thumb2

Banshee now I understand the confusion matey, what I meant which is what I thought you were doing is changing the plastic body coloured covers not the whole assembly.
Basically I have a broken plastic chrome covered mirror, the black base has broken where mirror pivots.
I have a good mirror but it’s colour coded blue so was wanting to know how to remove blue cover and replace it with the chrome one.

I've removed all of the front corners, steering setup, anti roll bar etc etc

Here is a close up of what has happened to the compression rod leg and how it has failed

I've got 2 more on the way that I'm hoping Elty is going to manipulate and re-weld to this truck from James

It's very scary when you pull arch rubbers and are faced with this sight

Luckily, as I've proved with the other side, a lot of it is just surface rust and cleans up as sweet as a nut ready for some new parts and a good coating in Waxoyl :naughty

You are a busy Banshee. It'll scrub up nice I reckon :thumbs

Hopefully matey :thumb2 I'm going to use it as my Welsh Tour Bus for a little while as I'm expected to work 2 days a week down in the Vale of Glamorgan at the moment for the foreseeable future.

When I'm bored of having to pay for real Diesel it will be going up for sale then I'll be focusing on getting the engine back in the Patrol :naughty

Cracking day at mine today with the legends themselves Elty and Blocky :bow :thumb2

Cups of teas and laughs galore, a few cracking sandwiches and some good old fashioned graft!!! Elty is an absolute demon on the metal and as a result I now have a truck that I can start bolting parts back to and get back roadworthy for an MOT :naughty

Thanks to Blocky as well for gifting me a set of 5 17" wheels for the new truck in return for some deluxe camping loot and a set of rear lights
