Ok - replaced the air filter (clogged totally black!) & gently cleaned the MAF, replaced the fuel filter (judging by the state of it, an original fitment from the factory...)...and what a pong! I've discovered that the previous owner of the vehicle (who lost it to a creditor and evidently didn't like that idea) has actually pee'd into the tank, and that's worked its foul way through... I know that pong from other jobs - a disgusting trick to pull on someone...
Topped up the radiator (3.5ltrs? Uh-oh...!). Fitted the new battery (£92inc from Unipart, 90amp job), got it started, then stopped, then started with a splutter...obviously got an airlock (I know the filters are sealed - they're well wound-on!)... eventually got it running long enough to drive it up onto ramps before switching it off.
Set about fitting new tailpipe on the zorst...and the exit pipe from the rear box fell orft in me 'ands! Bugger it! Another call to my friend in Unipart - new zorst on order for £56 - won't argue with that one!
What's worrying me now, though, is the discovery of a slow but steady drip, drip-drip, drip, of water from somewhere behind the turbocharger unit, rearward from the oil filter. I can see two blue hex-head waterway plugs, but they're tight with no leaks evident around them, but I think I can see a small-bore hose tucked in there too, so I wonder if it's sprung a slight leak? I did consider the old Barrs Leaks jollop, but I'm hoping it's not the head gasket (seems to be emanating below that level, anyway).
Need a PDF engine manual, I suppose - any pointers on that and/or the likely leak, please?
