Got my new Dymeena winch rope today, must say it looks and feels like ordinary rope, so hope it does what it says on the tin, but will take my wire rope just in case, fitted replacement heater fan motor, so will be able to see through the windscreen if it rains on Sunday, fitted LWB springs to rear, and wound up fronts to the limit without re indexing, which I will probably need to do later, also fitted under bonnet air cleaner, to make intake a little quieter, so Sunday at Boxgrove pit it is, let you all know how it goes later, Rick

might wana space those top ball joints then mate :

Hi rick thanks again for today mate top fella :thumbs:thumbs

My mate was well happy and loves his truck all over again :thumbs

The rear door rad mod you've done is really tempting me.

I've checked out boxgrove pit for next month and me and my mate will be there
So hopefully we will see you then

Basically they just space the upper arms up to provide more travel due to upper arm being further from bump stop

I think u need over 2" lift on front though to warrant them

Also need to Check the wear on cv boot/joint

I have some, there are 6 no 6mm spacers, so you could just use 1 or 2 per side if u needed

Dont know how lve missed this thread. Interesting read and great job Rick ' love the boot fans .

thanks stinka, I will consider it, see how it goes this week end, Rick

Rick , a man of your caliber could make some. Simple spacer between balls n arm
but I've got 35s on and 2" suspension lift ( about 1/2" more than yours) never had an issue to worry about them myself.
No benefit for travel/flex but does alter the driveshaft angle to nearer std and so "should" reduce cv damage, as said ;)

Thanks Pete, will look into this in weeks to come, suddenly got very busy so not a lot of time for playing, enjoy your wine this evening, I am, and all loaded and ready to go for tomorrow, but think I may have overdone the length of the Dymeena rope as it fills the drum when spooled neatly so fear it will be too much in real conditions will see tomorrow, I fitted 30 mtrs of 10 mm but easy enough to cut it and fit a new winch end ferrule, still think there is a problem with this engine though as on first starting (which it does first turn of the key) the throttle is really unresponsive hold it half way down and it takes a couple of seconds to respond, once warm it is a lot better but not what I would call instant which I think it should, I have removed the mini filter which on these is a very small one in the return banjo bolt, have a working crank sensor from cncfabs, maf is clean but have not got a diesel one to substitute only petrol and although both Hitachi they are different, at the moment I can only put it down to the veggie oil still in the tank, we must try and meet some time, sure we have a lot in common, if ever you are this way look in, we can accommodate if you wanted to stay overnight, regards Rick

Love to Rick :thumbs I've promised to go East and stay with Adz at some point so will try and do a round robin :D
Dyneema will stretch a bit ( normal) and so may reduce to about 8mm and still be at same breaking strength etc. That's the time to check your drum/spool limit. Then cut n splice accordingly. The benefit ofcourse is it's pretty much self spooling and so much lighter and user friendly on the old digits :thumbs
Enjoy tomorrow :naughty

Did your plasma settle in ? :thumb2

yea great stuff, well easy to handle, although a little wary of life of the stuff, it does assume some odd shapes from flat to square etc, but seems to come back, and cant believe the way it almost perfectly spools, this I think is due to the way it deforms under tension and fits the space next to the previous run, great stuff well pleased, Rick

Oh and by the way added 1 litre of petrol and 250 mls of acetone to the fuel before departing, so it had a chance to mix with the half tank of veggie stuff on the way there, yes made a big difference, so it was the fuel causing the low 1000 rpm lack of torque, had no problems at all even in high range on grades that slowed it to just above 1000 rpm, well pleased but will probably have to do the clutch before long, time will tell, and the rear rad and fans work absolutely perfect, high speed fans did not come on at all, engine temperature stable all the time, might go for a 2 inch spring lift and if I can free the captive nut body bolts a body lift as well, wheels did hit a few times, but no complaints at all, in fact we came across a couple Landies that were pulling each other around in a flat rutted muddy section and initially went to have a look to see if we could help, but in the end we just kept running back and forth over the very same stuff they were having trouble with, my daughter actually said "you are taking the piss now dad" so we left, Rick
