I've got the 24v version 13000lbs 3 speed version:thumbs, I gonna need split charge to run it but can I still do the duel alternator for the 2.7td? plus an idiots guide :doh

how do you run the 24v version at the moment? or is your truck 24v ???? Rick

its still under my bed :lol:jesterbg

then you have a big problem, you will need to find space to mount two 12v batteries, and you will have to find a 24v alternator that will fit in the space that the AC compressor was in, think you bought a bummer, Rick

OK then you need to source a 24v alternator and mount it where the AC compressor would go and it is just a matter of wiring from here on, you will need a 24v 5w bulb wired via a relay from your 12v system to kick the 24v system into gear, Rick

Any 24v alternator? what bout split charge?

you will need space for 2 more batteries as 12 + 12 =24 to have a separate system. It might be easier to get the winch motor changed or (and this is what I would do) stick it on ebay and use the money to get a 12v one :thumb2

i know i need 2 batteries regardless but was wondering if a split charge system would work instead of the 24v or duel alternator version? thought bout selling it but i got it cheap & brand new cos the guy thought hge ordered a 12v & company won't take it bac as he took it out of the box :doh

I am no expert, but I do know a fair bit abut electrics, and I can't see a way of doing this without using a 24v alternator as rick suggests, and fitting 2 more batteries (3 in total) 2 for the winch and one for the normal operation of the car. It may be possible to use some kind of split charge to charge the new pair of batteries thought, but not sure how, solar panel on the roof maybe :nenau
