Hey everyone, just thought id come say hi as im new here. Im from north nottinghamshire ( 2 mins from the desert if you know it? :sly ). I got a T2 2.7tdi, had it 6 months and i love it! Unfortunatly it just failed its M.O.T but its all small stuff, be up and running again very soon i hope.

Welcome to the site. The brakes will work even if the ABS is not working. If the abs light is on the abs probably isn't working. I'm no mechanic so the only thing I can suggest is check your fuses and the relay for the abs in the engine compartment in the black fuse box on the drivers side. Be careful if breaking sharply if the abs is not working as the back wheels can lock up.

How stupid will i look if it is just a fuse lol, i keep meaning to check them all, having new brake shoes, pads and lines too so hopefully everything should be ok :thumb2

I think the ABS light is an MoT fail...there are a couple of threads worth checking though; might just be a frayed/damaged wire and a few folks have repaired t....the sensor is VERY expensive.

Abs light take the T2 to you local mechanic he should have a code
scanner he can down load the fault code, that will tell you what abs
sensor is playing up.:thumb2

not too far away from my neck of the woods(alfreton)
most common fault on abs is the wire from the sensor in the hub to the plug just inside the inner wing.
had the same prob on my old t2.
i cut the wire as close to the sensor as i could(leaving enough wire to join a new peice on)and the same at the plug end.
soldered a new length of wire from sensor to plug,covered the joints with heatshrink insulation and job done.
took a couple of hours to do both sides and abs problem was solved.
hope its just a simple fix as the abs sensors cost a fortune.

Bestof luck with the ABS, It's also a fail if the light doesn't come on but it's a keen tester that will notice it hasn't come on and then gone out.
If you have no joy with faulty wires try ECU-TESTING.COM... dON'T PANIC IF A WOMAN ANSWERS SHE'S VERY GOOD..

I had similar problem on audi A6. ABS light on couldn't talk to ECU... fitted SH abs pump and ecu. the ecu was then showing a rear wheel sensor fault so i bought a rear wheel sensor ( ebay £20 new) this fitted ECU was still showing a rear sensor fault.. good chap sent out a replacement sensor.. plugged this in and it also showed as faulty.But when plugged in the other rear sensor socket it was ok.. So I called the clever lady at ecu-testing and she said 'faulty ecu they do that!!' So I sent the ecu to them on friday and it was back tuesday 100% and £127 if its not faulty there is a service charge of £35 but at least you know where your at!

Hi Nick..
Welcome mate..u say the desert,isnt that the place were all the bikers and landy nuts used to go...i thought the coppers had closed the place down,i went a few years ago with the truck full of trials bikes and the boys in blue were waiting took my reg and told me if they got me there again they would take the bikes....huge old quarry,superb place if were on about the same..
