It seems the cost of rebuilding an engine is not the only thing you struggle to 'get your head round'

I was referring to them advertising on the forum, do they get it 100% free ?

I knew what you were referring to, but once again you got it wrong :p

As I said earlier I know the guys at Billcar and have known Bill's dad, Bob, since the 70's back in my British bike days.

Not a single penny has changed hands for placing the banner there :thumbs

Should think they should at least pay £10 per year:lol

Ah right, good mates.

I'm obviously not doubting their work, just saying it seems a bit expensive, but as rick said for piece of mind, if you are not mechanically minded and without contacts in the trade then you will have to pay thru the nose for a safe top service like bilcar

Agreed :D if they clearing £1500 profit for a few days work like this, off a forum recommendation, least they can do is pay for your hosting :augie

My navara engine was one of the first to have the mods.the bearings were aluminium/zinc. not lead /copper. mine were replaced lead copper.arp bolts were used.the engine block started its life as a petrol engine which nissan decided to change to diesel.the oil pick up is partly in the block there was quite a distance for oil to travel picking up air.the engines sump capacity is only 4.5 litres.the lower sump the oil pick up sits in is only 1 litre.every engine that was destroyed put a rod through the block.im very suprised billcar with their experience didnt say straight away thatll need a new block.there was quite a bit on watchdog but nissan dont care any recall is kept quiet until your car goes wrong.if your car was 200 miles over its service due mileage nissan used this as a get out.they also had a timing chain issue nissan didnt publish a recall. i know cos mine was done under recall. same issue with k11 micra timing chains kept quiet unless you complained.will never buy a new nissan again.

The engine issue is a totally unacceptable issue and I really feel for people that have been stung by this. It's the same with the Xtrail Turbo's, weren't they a weak point too. Can hardly blame a company for keeping free recall's quiet and I'm sure that Nissan wont be the only company to do this, this practice is not excuseable either.

One question if you change the engine to a Terrano TD27, how do you make everything else fit like engine mounts, gear box and the rest.

For future reference just found out Nissan 1st in Welshpool break terranos and supply td27 with all the parts as a kit for the navara

Nissan 1st 01938 555750

I'd be doing that, it's the best option.

The bit that really stings, is she could of kept her old terrano for £230 and then she would of had an engine for it..

Should be collecting the car this week i think, i will give a full detailed report on there work, although i have complete faith in this company due to the reports on here. So i expect good things to be posted.:clap

How about a drum roll....? would that help?

Is it still there? Have you got it back?

Let us know your experience good or bad :thumb2

i cant do a drum roll , but how about a sausage roll ? :augie:eek:

So sorry forgot to post the outcome.

Well the truck came back last Monday, Billscar did a great job on it, however they did manage to loose both indicators off of the front wings (After a few phone call they agreed to re-place them) the car ran like a dream for 2 days..........Then Kerry lost the keys...........2 days later new keys sorted and another £120 lighter that truck is on the road again.

She is very happy with the truck now and says its driving like its brand new.

Total cost of rebuild was £3,200 i think, but i think thats with new clutch as well.

YOU GOT TO ASK YOUR SELF WAS IT GOOD VALUE FOR THE MONEY £3.2K :nenau.........YOU MUST HAVE TOO MUCH MONEY :lol:lol
