If further damage became evidant during there inspection did you expect them to cover that themselves :doh

Seconded, you simply cannot expect them to absorb the cost after finding further problems.

I have never dealt with them, so have no allegience either way. But let us be sensible here,.

Having dealt with Billcar for many years I can assure you ripping folk off is not something they are known for.

I agree, if you think you are going to get an engine in for repair with a big end gone, and then discover it has a busted block the new price has to take into account the replacement block, Rick

2nd or 3rd above comments, but I still think Nissan have a lot to answer here, a known problem like this should be a recall.
Piss poor customer service on Nissan's behalf, especially as they had such a great record with engines.:(

Billcars in shrewsbury is the place to go they will be i think cheaper than Nissan
They did mine and at 118,000 miles it still runs like its brand new.
You can read more about the problems of the D22 engine the neutral position switch etc., here http://www.nissan-navara.net/
Beware the cowboys in Bradford.
Tony
The oil pick up seal is a rubber groumet that fails. Billcars is a machined tube with two rubber seals.

you mean this post paul ? :augie

For bilcar to charge over £3k to fix a blown engine is laughable. They see you coming a mile off.

Terrano engine swap for a grand ...

A bottom end is like £100 if you look around, then the shells/bits and gaskets are say £300-£500

Sorry it's a joke of a price.

An average d22 truck is worth £5k and they want to charge you over £3k ???

I just can't get my head around it, it's ridiculous

whenever ive bought an engine i will only buy if i can hear it running so i know its good.History in my opinion is over rated if it runs well thats all you need to know.if i was doing a navarra would put the terrano engine in it.

That is a good point Pete, (Merry Xmas by the way) I would be looking at sorting the engine myself but then I suppose we all may not be able to do so, Rick

That will explain why you think it's expensive then :D

Billcar aren't throwing a secondhand scrapyard motor at you for that price :doh

I have to say your comment, "then the shells/bits and gaskets are say £300-£500", made me smile. I take it you haven't rebuilt a Navara engine for a while then :D

And I see the bilcar sponsorship on the forum ;)

To rebuild a second hand engine to the best standard inclusive of labour/parts/engine would cost worst case £1k, using what was good out of 2 engines

Then get it fitted say like £250 if you wanted someone to take the piss out of you

So £1500 being generous

Get real guys, and what is so bad about the place in Bradford ?

for my two pennerth, it is all about what you as a person can or cannot do, I can rebuild an engine on a shoe string but many others cannot, if you are amongst the cannot's then you have no option but to rely on those that can, and you obviously want/need reliability, this is going to come at a price, and people like Billcar have to earn a living, like us all, so lets not knock those that give a service that some of us need, I have just had a £700 vet bill and glad to pay it cos I cannot repair dogs, Rick

Sponsorship :nenau :doh

It seems the cost of rebuilding an engine is not the only thing you struggle to 'get your head round'

if anyone has the ability to repair / refurbish an engine , i say well done , i admire you for it ,if not then i guess it depends on your budget / how long you intend to keep the truck etc as to your options ,lets not get into a silly argument as to peoples views on options , or methods ,we are all adults ( except ryan :augie:lol )

Hi guys, as said I did not expect billcar to absorb the extra cost. It's not there fault. We could of fitted a second hand engine and than had that one blow up. People will say the problem has been fixed just to get you to buy. After I had dealings with company in Halifax on a landover engine though I won't ever go down that route again.
We expect to bet it back next week now. I will keep you posted.:thumbs

They also fitting a new clutch free of charge just cost of parts, because the engine is already out.
