the uniden 2830 is basically the president lincoln , but mine was seriously faulty , after around 5 minutes it got very very hot , it wouldnt tx ,and occasional readout failure , but the guy from retford gave me £35 for it :thumb2

id love to know what mics.radios you have , pm if you wish . ps have you got a 100watt mobile linear ? :augie ..... obviously illegal for me to use in this country , i er... um .... like to look at them :augie

if you are looking at a cobra ..... the one to watch out for is the 148 gtldx ( mark 2 version )

Maybe I should explain better matey, Im not going to attach the rig to the roof just the mounts, I meant to say when the linings down Ill look to see if I can add a thin plate at the back of the lining so as to bolt the rig bracket through the lining and into the plate cause as you know the headlining on its own wont hold up jack Sh*t, its the only bad part of the motor "where to put the rig" but if it works I will send you a pic so you can see for yourself eh.On your stalker---so I suppose it will be all systems go on tuesday after the posties delivered monday and youve got it connected etc:thumb2:thumb2:thumb2

im curious where you are going to put the power leads / coax...... under the roof lining ? .... down the side of the screen ? , .. hard wired into fuse box or ciggie adapter ?

the coax i imagine would just go along the roof and out of the sunroof , but what about the powerlead ? :nenau

The coax will go to the dv sytle base that will be fitted to the roof and the powerlead will go forwards down the side of the windscreen and then thro the bulkhead and onto the battery.

in my humble opinion .... the tornado stinger is the best performing easy to set up ( pre swr'd ) aerial on the market

stinger

bought a kernow for my Jago, greenlaning and offroading in a 2wd you need a bit of backup.
Nearly finished rebuilding a 4wd, suzuki running gear Jago, so I bought another kernow, trouble is, her indoors complained about the first one, so I put the second one away and said nowt, now I cant find it:nenau
So I have just bought a Midland (almost identical to the kernow) and another stinger, when I find the missing cb the terrano gets one too:clap
Yes I know there is very little range in the little sets, but in a group offroad you dont need any more power.
I live on the Mendips, surprising how much you can pick up when you park up on top - ssssshhh, not supposed to do that either, too many parking spots on the Mendips ascociated with dogging..........................

very little range ? ..... :augie:naughty

range

problem with Jago's is that they are GRP, so achieving a decent groundplane not so easy...........

the normal output ( max) on a cb in this country is 4 watts , providing you have a correctly swr'd aerial ( stands for standing wave ratio .. most modern aerials are pre tuned ) the range is around 10 miles in ideal conditions , but typically its more like 5 miles due to terrain etc ......... unless you have a little help ( linear amplifier ) it boosts your output power from 4 watts up to around 200 watts , but its highly illegal and of course i wouldnt advocate using one :augie

also what a lot of people dont realise when they purchase their cbs is most have a high/ low power switch , which changes the power output from 0.4 watts to the max of 4 watts ( typically )

confused

sheila has just popped home to get changed because she has to go somewhere , so i popped out to the disco , and tried my magnetic mount on it for a giggle ...... it sticks to the roof !!!!! ..... i thought discos where alloy or aluminium ???
