Thats expensive There was a stag357 which is essentially the same as you have that sold for less than 30 squid last week on flea bay..... Keep looking and waiting thats the key to flea bay....

a good stalker is like trying to find rocking horse droppings these days , they go for silly money . i fully expect that one to go for £90 +

Hi Briggie, just thinking that maybe I should go into the ssb cb selling scene if this is the norm... On a little off topic note where have you mounted the stalker as its a fairly big radio and I have been thinking of putting the stag in the maverick for a while but couldnt find the right position for the radio, The icom 706 I have does fit under the passenger seat and the headunit is fitted via a mobile phone holder onto the top of the dash above the air vents but is easily removed (5secs)with the slide plate fitting, Let me know where youve fitted yours I hope you dont say against the gearbox tunnel as I feel unless static you have to look down and thats not a good thing whilst drivin as for some strange reason you have to look forward it seems or you run into things...lol cheers monty:lol

at the moment i use the stalker at home ( because i aint got a flippin car lol )

Come on Briggie give us your wisdom, I know you that you are a wise man after all the answers you gave last night to our conversation, when you have/had the car where do you put the stalker????, or did you just do static mobile with it propped up on the seat.Measured up today and cant see anywhere to put the stag unless I put in up on the sunroof opening via a bracket spragged across from n/s to o/s if you get me drift:confused:

i really dont want to fix a slide mount to it and dont want to drill or screw holes into the car , also i dont fancy putting it between the seats because it will get scratched to bits , maybe some doublesided masking tape type stuff ? ... i dunno yet i will think about it

the guy is fitting a 10kc shift too ( on the nb/anl switch ) :thumb2

according to his power meter ..... its kicking out 12 watts fm/am ..... and 20 watts ssb !!!!!! :naughty:eek:

Briggie, That sound super to me, not to much and just enough as they say, have been looking again today for a suitable place but cant see anything really other than making a bracket that hangs from the roof similiar to how truckers position their rigs, just got to get over the inner sunroof cover sliding to and fro lol. Your thoughts please as I just going to have a panadol as me heads cracking from trying to sort this out......

i was thinking of mounting it on the flip cover between the seats ... dunno tho

if it helps ..... in past vehicles i have mounted my stalker in ..... drivers side door pocket ( drilled holes for speaker )

glove box

under glove box .... ( screwed bracket .... made a mess tho )

dashboard ...... ( not a good idea even on a slide mount , left holes )

just left it on passengers seat ( ok if you dont have a passenger lol )

bolted to roof in works van . ( doesnt matter about works van lol )

glued to dashboard ( glue was a pig to get off and made a mess )

hope the above helps

Although I too have used and fitted in similiar places to yourself, I just think that the mount in the roof idea will be the way to go, as Im thinking of dropping the headlining so I can A) drill the roof after sourcing a pair of suitable roofbars from the scrap yard and B) so I can drill the roof to accomomdate the mounts for the cb and the hf radio aerials bases, going to drill just past where the sunroof goes back to (when open)cb on the n/s and hf on the o/s probably abt 10inches from the centre line so it splits the roof into 3 fairly equal gaps if you get me drift. It will probably be more clear when the headlinings down and the mounts are fitted. Has your radio arrived yet????

hes posting it on monday , personally i wouldnt attach mine to the roof , but hey whatever floats ya boat or bends ya twig

Maybe I should explain better matey, Im not going to attach the rig to the roof just the mounts, I meant to say when the linings down Ill look to see if I can add a thin plate at the back of the lining so as to bolt the rig bracket through the lining and into the plate cause as you know the headlining on its own wont hold up jack Sh*t, its the only bad part of the motor "where to put the rig" but if it works I will send you a pic so you can see for yourself eh.On your stalker---so I suppose it will be all systems go on tuesday after the posties delivered monday and youve got it connected etc:thumb2:thumb2:thumb2

And of course you will be on legal 40 didnt think youd be anywhere else:augie Uniden 2830 are getting quite rare now if its the one Im thinking of, oh by the way you were spot on matey with our prediction of the stalker on ebay £92.00 it made did keep my eye on it but have more mics/radios than the bbc at the moment so its passed me by, although I was watching a very nice cobra that looked to be totally original and the guy even said he was prepared to give a demo which surprised me to be honest...
