is going to wales to be retuned because its slightly off frequency :rolleyes:...to a place i cant pronounce in tredegar .... abertyssg !!!! rhymney.....sheila had a fit when writing the address lol ....... so im gonna be even more bored than usual without my radio ....... beware :naughty
 
this is a 32 year old radio ... they dont make them like this anymore , i used to repair it myself , but cant hold a soldering iron now , i guess when a radio is as old as mine i sort of knew it would drift off frequency as components deteriate with age and use , so no radio for a few weeks now boo hoo :(:(

Got to say that Im waiting for that good old sunspot and then its wosh and away we go working the states and the far east again on 12 watts, the stalkers were/are a good radio, I have a old stag 357 thats been worked to death but just keeps going,kicking out about 16/18watts, its a bit like most things "they dont make them as good as they use too" must get the old radio out and give it a whirl.

my stalker 9 fdx is currently at 12 watts fm/am..... 18 watts usb :augie ... with a variable power switch fitted by myself :thumb2 .. ive had qsl's with most of europe , canada, north usa, last time i almost bent a guys s meter in sweden lol
 
i used to use the stalker through a bremi 400watt mains linear and used a gp 27 ....... but ive sold those now , so ive just got my tornado stinger :eek:

Briggie, I just got to tell you that I cut my radio servicing teeth on these radios at the grand old age of 11 my mentor was what was regarded as the best rig doctor in the business back in the 70s and 80s handle was "professor" Im chuckling as it was my job to connect up the pll and align these when they landed in crate loads via Belgium.
Tell you what tho this chassis stalker9, stag 357, wks 100, etc IS the best chassis and the components used were top quality, DO NOT SELL YOUR STALKER even if they are going to cut your electric off lol.

Sadly, Lou (professor)passed away in december 09, I lost a true friend and my mentor and miss him dearly, 35 yrs after our first meeting I still have a "tweaked K40" that we designed together and had so many contacts on.

By the way I have r.i.t on my stag, have never seen any others been done only 2, mine and Lou,s and variable power output and a 7.5kc plus and minus, god this brings back memories

unfortunately im unable to physically hold a soldering iron , test probes anymore ... so ive sent it to wales to a guy called black prince or summat like that ..... he comes highly regarded from the transmission 1 forum .... i hope he doesnt fuff it up ... but knowing my luck :doh

s meter doesnt work anymore ( dry joint perhaps ? ) ......rig seems off frequency both on tx and rx ..... so needs aligning
 
Should be ok I would think its not to difficult to do and at least if he fluffs it then its near on impossible to blow the mrf4series tranny,unless you are way out on swr.... It will be fine Im sure..

mine is slightly different to that .... it doesnt have the cb27/81 sticker, and on the band selector it doesnt say fm 1.2.3 etc , mine says fm/usb/lsb ..
 
Thats expensive There was a stag357 which is essentially the same as you have that sold for less than 30 squid last week on flea bay..... Keep looking and waiting thats the key to flea bay....
