Yes upload all the other discs to a folder somewhere - call it maps or similar.

Then in memory map you need to update the map list. Go to

Map -> Map List -> refresh map list

Then tell it where your maps are - should be obvious from there

you can just use the CD you need each time and tell it where the map is eac time but easier just to upload them all.

looking at getting a pda with built in gps and the means to up load o/s maps but not sure what to buy:nenau
can any one tell me what they use and the cost to set up etc.

cheap option would be an iPaq 6500, oldish but decent and has two card slots as well, I've got 8Gb of cards in it - I run TomTom on mine but you can get OS type mapping software as well - just investigating this MM thing as first time I've seen this thread. I have the PDA in a cradle that mounts to screen, powers the PDA and also has spare USB charging slot....will stick a photo up tomorrow if I remember..

Where did I get the software? Ah well, thats another story for PMs only.... :naughty

elty - note of caution...I've been researching this MM product and it has its drawbacks - mainly the frankly obscene cost of the maps - £100 per region (one region being, for example, the Yorkshire dales)...that really sucks. Its also clear that you can't use the MM maps on anything else, or anything else on MM, as the map format is absolutely proprietary.

In addition, you seem to need a product called MM Pocket Navigator to run on a PDA...I am about to try connecting my iPaq 6500 to the PC to see if the software recognises it as I'm not clear if PN is included in the MM software.

Apparently the cost is all down to how the Ordnance Survey licences its maps - thanks a lot to them then!

But there are ways and means if you know how!! :naughty:naughty

How far north did you need; I could potentially sort Lake District and Yorkshire Dales for you....

and for anyone interested, a cheaper option for PDA use might be Fugawi - I've seen it working on an iPaq but need to find out what map formats are compatible with it....will let you know after some research!

i explained to the seller what my intended use was for the pda so he did a bit of research for me and told me i would be fine.
the only thing i'm a bit dubious of is the bluetooth gps device thingy.
could always hard wire a reciever if need be.
trying to sort this on a budget and as it will only be used a couple of times a month so don't want to shell out a fortune but want it to do as i intended.
as for the pocket navigator iv,e been told its free from microsoft

ELTY dont believe anything you hear and only half of what u see mate. Pocket Navigator is not a free MS product, its an MM product - hopefully its included in the main MM PC product but I'm checking as we speak.

Not sure what your concern is about the GPS function on the PDA? It works fine - until I caved in and bought a TomTom One, I ran Tom Tom Navigator on my iPaq with maps for the UK and France....works a treat...

been told not to trust bluetooth but dont really see how it can fail as the pda and reciver are only gonna be inches apart most of the time.
will see how i get on with it.

as for the pocket nav thing its me getting my wires crossed with an upgrade from microsoft for uploading the maps to pda.

Depends on how the GPS works on the particular PDA - don't think Bluetooth is used for GPS unless you have an external device of some kind? Mine is permanently off.

Just checked and Pocket Navigator IS included in MM. You just connect your sync cradle with your PDA and then use the MM software, first to install PN (which is only about half a Mb) and then to transfer whatever maos you want to use - these are bigger so best put on a memory card assuming your PDA will take one.

Mine still works even though it said it might not as it uses an earlier version of Windows Mobile or whatever the damn OS is....resolution is OK, but not great, again depends on how good your PDA is. But at least it works - couldn't check GPS as I don't have an Oxfordshire map today; seemed to be a bit of configuration to do for the actual type of GPS receiver that your device uses....hopefully not too difficult.

So wait for your disc and hope it installs OK! If not, PM me and I'll send one that works!
