Is it just me - thank God I am not colour blind ?

Ok so, I am from a Science background I have used Litmus Paper, an Optimeter, pH meter done reagent tests using Malachite Green etc but these urine test strips are pretty difficult to read & interpret for a Novice.

I did my sample this morning a 1-2 second immersion having peed half a pint in a clean glass , laid the strip on some bog roll to take up the excess then after the recommended wait of 1-2 minutes looked at the readings.

I concentrated on the Blood reading as the rest meant little to me. The blood section was a sort of insipid Urine Yellow a bit like the section on the left of the container but not quite the same, definitely not remotely Green nor yellow with black bits so I took it as a Neg reading.

The top row for Leucocytes in my case was a bright colour ( but forgotten what might have been Blue) but none of the colours on the container that were various shades of pale purple. The other negative readings were not really noted as with time the colours change due to the testing reagents seeping from the test strip.

Much harder than our Hot Tub test strips.lol

Might need to get an ANPR to run me through the test !

Hi Guys, it’s been a very difficult couple of days. Today has been exceptionally painful and the next few days too, morphine rocks:thumbs a few freaky day dreams though.
Stuck here in high dependency unit for for another day or two. The staff of the NHS are amazing.

Just wanted to let you all know I’m hanging in there.

Good to hear from you Jim - pain levels should start to drop by the time you read this post - all the best.
CheersTed

GOOD MAN!!!!! Wasn't expecting an update quite so soon. I've had my fair share of morphine (damn you motorcycles :doh) and I agree, top drawer stuff :D
Keep smiling pal:)

Haha a none rusty truck, that would be a dream. Feeling tired again today been for a short stroll along a corridor this morning.

Jim, as long as you don't have freaky dreams about L###R####s, you'll be fine.......:sly :thumbs

Way to go Jim.

Yep NHS rocks , I know what you mean about morphine!

Correction needed

Sorry but that would be classed as a Nightmare - Jim could blame the Opiates though if he had such a Dream! lol

I had a good laugh at myself this morning !!

I re-tested my Urine this morning and afterwards laughed so loud at my stupidity. I read the instructions again before I realised that I had been holding the test strip upside down on my previous test. All the readings made sense then - all good with the right colours in the right zone!!

I am sure Jim will laugh when he reads this post !

Don’t make me laugh, I’ll split my sides no I really will :lol

Loads better at the moment but it will be a very long road back to fitness, nothing really prepares you for the shock of major surgery on the body. Main thing is I’m here and fighting it and fingers crossed it’s gone for good.

It’s so good to get you guys talking about male cancers because blokes don’t, I hope in the future someone stumbles upon this thread and reads it and makes a difference to them. In the meantime guys, if you pass a Macmillan collection tin drop a few pence in for me as they really are a wonderful supportive organisation.

You will feel better when the effects of the Anesthetic wears off.

Assuming you had a General Anesthetic rather than a Spinal Jab it can often take several weeks for the adverse effects of those drugs to wear off. I am sure you will find your recovery rate and pain levels improve with time - its early days yet Jim.

Not only are we are supporters of Macmillan but Wendy was a volunteer at the local Hospice for several years. As a result of the training they gave her it helped her enormously in managing her fathers end of life care. They are a great organisation as are Marie Curie Nurses.

“Hi Honey, I’m Home”

A bit obscure but I’ve been discharged this evening, was a bit overwhelming when I got home. Glad to be home to recover.

To answer that Ted, I was greedy I had both. Had the epidural as well as a general. I didn’t ask they just did, the operation was a very long one.

Off back to bed now the meds have worked again.

Just read through this. Glad to hear you are post op and back home. Have to agree with your morphine comment, great stuff if a little morish.

I had the finger of fudge last year followed by the camera. Not the most pleasant experience, it's an exit not an entrance. They took a bit of a sample while they were in there. Luckily it was ok, they just want me back every 3 years or so to keep an eye on things.

Keep fighting, it will all be worth it when it's in the past
