I've fitted my MAF amplifier that I got from Ray, easy job to do, well it must be I did it! :augie
Started off by looking for a suitable place to have the actual unit, I guessed inside the vehicle would be best, drier and easy to get at if I feel like tampering with it.:naughty

I fitted this in a bit of a hurry this morning, so apologies for the messy white insulating tape. I've found my black tape and tidied it up now.:thumbs

This is where the wires go through the bulkhead to the passenger foot-well.
There is a closed grommet already there, you'll need to make a hole in it for the wire. This has been sealed up with Tiger seal (polyurethane sealer/adhesive) once everything has been done, broke my sealant gun pumping the stuff!:doh

The box of tricks fitted with a couple of self tappers.

And this is a kick plate I made up in case it gets knocked with a foot!:lol

First impressions are good, it pulls a lot stronger low down but tails off as the revs rise, great for towing and hill climbing.:thumbs
I haven't had time to tamper with settings yet, too busy this weekend.

I'll get round to trying a few different settings over the next week or two and let you know how it goes.

Yes Ray has a quantity made up now and ready for shipping, PM him for details, Rick

Wow.. fitted my MAF amp today... even my wife noticed the difference, and that is as it comes out the box, I have not tweeked it yet...

Thanks for the great service Ray....

Mine is at home waiting for me to fit it (on hols in the caravan at the moment).

I can wait to get it wired in.

Thanks for the images (trophymick), lot of good ideas there!

Alan

I mounted mine in the same location, but (Don't tell Ray!) I opened the unit up, and ran the wire out the other end of the box, so the switch, and adjustment Pot are on one end, and the wire comes out the other, I then fitted the box, so the switch and the adjustment are facing into the cabin, meaning I can get to the adjuster easily if I want to have a play.

I ran the wire through an existing grommet into the engine bay, and fitted a waterproof connector in the wire to the MAF and used that to make the connection into the circuit.

not sure but think Ray may be on holiday, if any one wont's one I have a couple that I can ship to you and get replacements when he comes back, just PM me Rick

That sounds good as well. It'd be great if you could also take a few pics as well.
Especially of the waterproof connection.

No worries though. I appreciate that you have quite a bit on at the moment.

This might sound a daft question but what do those boxes actually do?

Will do, I was going to when I installed it, but it was starting to rain, so I just cracked on.

I used a pair of these connectors.6 pin waterproof connector.

Basically, I took the air filter housing out, unwrapped the plastic cable cover from the MAF wire, and cut it back about 10 inches. I then cut all 4 wires, joined the 2 Yellow/Whites, Green/reds, and Red/Blue wires back together, then crimped the sockets onto them. I then put a socket on each of the two Blue/Whites, making 5 wires, and fitted them into the housing.

On the MAF cable, I put 4 pins onto the wires, and then using the Plug housing, connected the Orange to the Blue/White from the MAF, the White to the Blue White to the ECU, the Red to the Yellow, and the Green the the Green/Red, leaving the Red/Blue with no connection.

I then put the cut off cover back over the wires, and wrapped them back up with insulting tape. It does shorten the wires a bit, making them a tight, but works.

I will try and post some pictures on Sunday.

Ryan it tell the ECU that more air is going in than actually is, so ECU feeds more fuel = rich mixture = more low down omph but tapers off as revs rise, Rick

Thanks for the image, and for the reply. I look forward to seeing the images as well.

Much appreciated.

Might not make any difference at and I may sound stupid but will this work with the same performance if I'm using a snorkel?

From what I see, it shouldn't make any difference.

There is an adjustment pot, so you can tweak it a bit anyway, should the snorkel be reducing the airflow. The Amp it's self makes no difference to the actual air going in though, it just pretends to the ECU that there is more air going in than there really is.
