I have a Hitachi MAF too does that mean this cant be used? Confused of Tavistock.

It will work on both. The diagram shows the connections for the Bocsh MAF, where as Rick is trialling it on a Hitachi one. It is just as Ray said, the Bosch MAF is more common, so more logical for the purposes of putting a connector on, if it could be purchased separately..

As I understand it, if it has 5 terminals (but only 4 wires connected) it is the Bosch MAF

The Hitachi one has only 3 wires, but I am not sure which 1 of the 4 is missing, although my guess would be the 5v, which is not used by the MAF amp anyway.

will the one unit do both mafs, I have the Hitachi one, is it just a case of one unit different wiring? regards bri

I have sent an Email to these guys to see if they do both the Socket and the Plug for the Bosch MAF. Basically they do the Socket (MAF Equiv) on the site, but I can't find the plug. Will let you know if I get any feed back.

Thanks for that.
I'm trying to crack on with the rest of it, in between an ongoing house extension!

Sorry folks, took a couple of pics this morning in a hurry, not good enough, no real detail, and lots of mud, have to try again over the weekend, as on top off all else I have lost my side lights on my road going motor, headlights work OK, fuse OK but side light relay not clicking, but cannot get my fingers in to release the clip as yet, hoping it is the relay as have many spares, Rick

Thanks for your on-going efforts (and Lazy -Ferrets) on this project. Quite excited at the prospect of getting one now....

Plug & Play would be great. even so put me down for one. I could nicely use a bit more low down grunt

Yes plug and play would be nice, only problem is getting one male and one female plug? but it is very easy to fit without the plugs, off to Wales now but will do pic when I get back next week, Rick

I have found a place we can get the plugs and sockets, but they are not cheap.

I think Ray has decided to do the box with a generic socket, on it and then offer the option of either a plug with wire pig tails for those that just want to cut and shut it into place, or for those that want "Plug and Play", and have the Bosch MAF, a lead that had the Bosch plugs on. This means one box can suit all eventualities including the Hitachi MAF as well making production easier.

Basically depending on numbers, the Bosch Plug and Socket will add around £33 to the price. I can't get an exact figure as it is coming from the USA, and it depends on how many we order, shipping, import duty Blah Blah, but £33 is worst case.

If you can add your name to the following list if you want the "Bosch Plug and play Sockets for around £33?

Plug & Socket is a bit too pricey for me. Thanks for looking in to this though.

Are you still doing them without the plug and play option? :nenau

I'm happy to plumb into the wiring, especially if it saves £30 odd! :thumbs

Plug and play not worth it then, as said before splicing in is very easy, Rick

I would still like a plug & play version, and am happy to pay the bit extra.

Regards

Alan

Pics at last, this is the amp itself with the adjuster screw
