Loss of power and revs, smokey T2 2.7TD

My wife is getting intermittent power loss with smokey exhaust and engine service light illuminating or rather the 2.7 TD is! When you key off it restarts ok with no problems even the warning light has gone out. Then will happen again at other times.
I see the articles about the little fuel filter in the block.
Can this produce intermittent symptoms that come and go? Thanks.

for how long it takes to clean the mini filter id do it anyway. i had same prob in my mistral,all smoke no power but revved ok in neutral. cleaned the filter and all ok

Had the same thing happen to me a couple of years back. It was the first injector, Thats the one with all the brains Could be that messing about,

yes it could be, i had to change no1 injector a couple of weeks ago. :augie

Hi,

Had exactly the same problem until today.
Posted yesterday about not reving past 2000 rpm and no power.

Went to the download section and did the cleaning of the mini filter by the pump.
Did exactly as the download showed.
Took approx 1 hr to do and wow! what a difference.:thumbs
Revs cleanly and pulls like a new truck again.

Who would of thought a small bit of mesh would cause such a problem.

I would do this first, worked for me.
