What I mean is they are the similar design (I think) as the lokka and many fit them to the rear of road going landrovers without issues on the road. Like stuarts.

new spacers start at about 5 thou I think in six degrees up to max 25 thou, so you should be OK may need two, my originals were 35 and went down to 25, sorted, Rick

Rick
Don't suppose you have part numbers do you, the ones I found listed went down to .75 mm which is about 30 thou and the thickest is shown as .96 mm -about 38 thou which is what I have in mine.

No unfortunately not, I asked for these but he said no worries he has them logged to my enquiry and would not divulge, so it seems different dealers come up with different facts, if the worst comes to the worst you can send me your washers and I will machine them to the thickness you require, or you can tell me what thickness you require and I will add them to my order Rick

I'm going to make some calls in the morning, I may get back to you if I'm stuck.

Lovely Idea but as mentioned before Slindon mud is very abrasive, and HB lasts no time need to pull hubs and adjust rears after every meet, Rick

I thought it was just me !

Every laning trip this winter I have had no HB left on way home, so had to pull drums off the next day

Need rear shoes now tho as osr shoe is almost on metal

@ rick

Does it make the steering heavy ? Can you tell its there ?

I presume its a lot less obvious than the locked diff u ran before ?

I've just checked the catalogue again and it only shows thrusts washers going down to 0.75mm. However there are bearing shims which go much thinner, down to .2mm.
Might be an idea to double check they have the right part.

Can u not take your shim to an engineering firm and get them to make u one or turn yours down ?

Probably only want a tenner

I think a tenner might be a bit optimistic to make a one off pair but getting mine turned or surfaced ground locally is a definite possibility.
I haven't had a word with my local dealers yet so it maybe easier than I think to solve.

Sorry could not get your link to work, even tried copy and paste the above, no joy, I have ordered 2 at 25 thou should be here in a day or two, if your washers were around 37 thou then 25s should be the ones you need, Rick

All I can say about that is before it was a pig to get out of 4 wheel, now its is out instantly, as for feeling it on the steering I do not think so, but I have no access to tarmac with the off roader, the nearest to tarmac is the farm drive up to the road but it is so rough that I cannot tell, Rick

Rick.
Try www.nissan4u.com and work though to your vehicle.
The part number I have is correct, just spoken to local dealer but it's a non stock non return item and could take several weeks to come. Ordered a pair anyway but I will try and get something sorted with what I've got as well.

Later this morning the dealer rang to say my bits were in, so shot over to Hastings full of excitement, and what did I see two adjusting shims for the main diff bearings, how can these bear any relation to washers, so back to square one, I think you are better off getting a machine shop to knock you a couple up, as they are only mild steel, Rick

I was afraid that might be the case. Just checked my link, the first one, (the second one I gave is rubbish) and it seems to work fine for me. very handy site as it list just about all the part numbers and give exploded views. Not just Terranos but all Nissans.

The good news is that I managed to find a tool makers shop who had a surface grinder and solved the problem in about 20 minutes. Took the washer down from about 35 thou to 25 thou. I wanted to go a little bit more but when he checked the progress one of them distorted and we decided to stop there.
On reassembly the critical gap was 144 thou, just under the lower limit of 145 but I continued anyway and a bench test proves that it seems to work as it should however the proof of the pudding will be when it's back on the vehicle.
So an early start tomorrow and, hopefully, a successful final test.
Peter

Great news mate, looking forward to hearing your road test reports

You on manual, fixed or auto hubs ?

Wow, that is such a handy site... I have just managed to get the part numbers for my T1 gas struts...:clap:bow:bow

I think this link should be saved along with the link to the work shop manuals somewhere... Thanks so much for posting it.:thumbs

I can get to the site but it will not let me scroll any further than 09 and "A" almeras etc, some times it will not load at all, could it be my browser Google Chrome.

Glad you got your shims sorted Manora, result, you should be OK on 144 but was that with the casing bolts torqued up? Rick
