got the doner drive shaft off today but flaming thing has seized CVJ so gonna have to check over the one that came off the broke shaft, more time:doh , Rick

Well the diff is in, no pics as boring, able now to do a proper unlock test, and well surprise surprise, they unlock very easy, very different from the bench test as I struggled to hold it all in the vice let alone turn the shafts, in the car very little effort turning the wheels at all and the click was masked by the squeal from the dry mud brake disks, only comment is it is hard to do the test with auto hubs on, it can be done but you need an assistant and your head in gear, I stuck my welded hubs on and it was easy, I am now beginning to think I can use my fixed hubs full stop as the lokka should take care of different rotation rates with ease, hope to road test it tomorrow, so will have more news then, Rick

So possibly ok on a road going motor with fixed hubs ?

Yes if it is a T2 where you can select the front axle or not, no good on a motor with intermediate diff, must say I am well impressed so far, Rick

I had read about them a lot on Aussie forums, people saying they have them Front and rear in hilux and patrols etc, hubs locked or fixed and they are un noticeable on the road, believe it when I see it tho

Stinky, if you want one I may have to get one for my Black Pearl revival :naughty
Have a bit of a save up mate :D

If trials go well I will be wanting one for the rear, seems like it will far outstrip a LSD, specially as we now know shims are available relitivly cheap, price when I ordered some yesterday had risen to £2.40 each :doh, Rick

Will tell you on Sunday evening,Rick

OK a real update, FANTASTIC, got fixed hubs on and it works a treat, put it in 4WD and the front axle is driven both wheels perfect, take it out of 4 and instantly back in 2, with no wind up and I cannot hear the clicking, I must admit when I first saw it in the flesh I did have reservations, now I will be getting one for the rear without doubt, so anyone who wants to add to the order, as the more we get the better the price, a really great bit of simple engineering, Rick

I don't think they do one for the rear due to the construction of the LSD and the clutch packs etc, not like a conventional open diff

So do I think it would be smooth on a road going motor ? Will it not make steering heavy as it tries to Center on bends ?

definitely not, with manual hubs you can leave them on and the Lokka will take care of it, but if you are not needing 4 WD much then I would disengage the hubs just to stop the front diff being turned needlessly to help fuel consumption, but that is the only reason, Rick

yes i think they do, as the fitting instructions cover the range and keeping some of the clutch plates is mentioned, Rick

Sorry to be thick, but is that definitely not affect the steering ? Or definitely not for road use ?

Woohoo ME WANTS :D

Just need to sell stuff now to afford one :lol

Me too although I have enough in my papal account earn t entirely from internet answer forum, Rick

An opportunity for someone to offer exchange front diffs, there are plenty of un worn front diffs of the earlier Mavs and Terranos, ie those with Auto Hubs.

Just for interest, how do you lock the front diff?

Rick I think you have given a good write up, I think the rest of the members appreciate it too.:clap:clap
